Hirschbrau was founded in the 17th century and is located near the German border with Austria. It is famed for its stag symbol, which is present on the majority of Hirschbrau’s labels. The beer their 350 years history began with is this, the Hirschbrau Der Weisser Hirsch, a true German wheat beer. It is brewed using Tettnanger and Perle hops as well as Wheat and Pilsner malts, the pure ingredients increasing the overall quality of the beer. It is best consumed chilled and it appears naturally cloudy due to the yeast, with heavy sediment.
The top fermented brew provides a wealth of fruity flavours in the aroma. These follow through on their promise, also delivering on the palate too. The sweet fruits are well balanced by the wheat and a slight flavour of lemon gives way to the mild and clean finish. It is 5.2% in strength but is an extremely easy drinking pale coloured wheat beer. The flip top bottles it famously comes in make the brand easy to identify and the taste will not let you down either.
