Weihenstephaner Original is a Helles lager from the world’s oldest brewery, Weihenstephaner. Born on Weihenstephan Hill in 1040, the brewery has survived many challenges throughout its history, including at least four fires and numerous invasions. Weihenstephaner Original is the classic Helles lager, characteristic of the Bavarian region of Germany where the brewery is located.
Weihenstephaner Original pours a golden straw colour, offering up aromas of crisp malt with bready hints. The flavour is mild, with a gentle hop bitterness to round off the sweetness from the malt. Designed for refreshment, Weihenstephaner Original can be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif, and also pairs well with salads, poultry and stews. Buy Weihenstephaner Original for a classic Bavarian Helles, from the regions’ original brewery.

I really enjoyed this smooth, sessionable helles lager. Very tasty indeed. It has yeasty, grassy, wheaty flavours with a bitter edge. The fizz is just right.
Barry Smith –
Great tasting lager, very smooth and goes down well. Will get this one again. Very popular so will have to wait for new stock.
James Baxter –
One of my favorite helles lager biers goes down too easily light taste more to the sweet side than hoppy and very smooth one of Bavaria’s best selling biers made by the world’s oldest brewery est: 1040 AD

Really smooth,tasty, well balanced Helles.
Light hoppy and malt flavours, it leaves a gently bitter aftertaste.
A good sessionable drink.

A golden straw colour, crispy aroma, mild taste with a gentle bitterness to go against the sweetness from the malt.
One I would need to try again.

Derek B –
Excellent, I love it!
Steven Nicholas –
Extremely well balanced and highly quaffable. No off tastes. Can’t decide if it is this or Augustiner that is the King of the Helles. As a lager it’s hard to beat.
WJ –
Sweet and smooth, typical helles. However I found it slightly underwhelming compared to Weihenstephaner’s other offerings, don’t have one of their wheaty ones or bocks just before trying this.
Chris Lenaghan –

‘Sweetish’, grainy, flowery, citrusy, biscuity malt, some gentle bitterness. A good helles.
