Pop the flip-top lid and take a sip of Aktien Original 1857 to be transported back to nineteenth Century rural Germany. This original landbier from Bayreuth Brewery is brewed using an authentic recipe from 1857.
What is an original landbier? A landbier is not really a style, it’s more of a term to denote a German beer that’s brewed in the traditional style. Landbiers can vary in colour, strength and flavour profile, but are generally brewed from old-fashioned recipes in the traditional German lager style.
Aktien Original 1857 pours a golden yellow colour, offering up mild honey and grassy aromas. The malty body is complemented by spicy, peppery hop character, forming a classic German lager flavour profile

A decent example of a German lager. Clean, crisp and very sessionably smooth. It has a pale straw colour and pours with a decent head with good fizz. Slightly tart.
Matthew Farrar –
Really nice, clean and crisp complete with a pop top bottle. Very much what you’d expect from a German beer and would happily drink again. Just ordered the Zwikl to try…

A classic German lager, crystal clear straw color and holds a good head. very clean malt and yeast flavor perfectly balanced with hop bitterness, it’s dangerously easy drinking at 5.3%
Mark Rhoden –
Pours clear light golden with a creamy white head. Aroma of malt, grain, little sweet, hay-ish hops. Flavor is sweet, malt, grainy, some corn, hay. With an, average carbonation, light sweet finish.

Crystal clear straw coloured lager.
It is sharp, crisp and refreshing with lemon and pepper flavours, combined with a touch of hops bitterness leaving a pleasantly dry aftertaste.
Really enjoyable.

Landbiers can sometimes come across as a bit too heavy, but this one is refreshing and crisp to the taste. A nice balance of flavours, but a touch on the hoppy side. Enjoy!
