Amber Johannes is a Heller Bock from Polish family brewery, Amber. Based just outside Gdansk in northern Poland, Amber brewery was founded in 1994 after the collapse of the Gdansk Brewery the previous year. Amber produces a range of beers, from traditional Polish styles to modern international beer styles. Amber Johannes is a strong lager or Heller Bock, and a proportion of the proceeds of each beer sold goes to the Gdansk Museum, contributing to preserving Polish culture.
Amber Johannes pours a rich amber colour, offering up aromas of malt and bready yeast. The flavour is rich and intense, with a clean finish thanks to the long conditioning time of this special lager. At 6.5% ABV, Amber Johannes stands up against roasted and heavily spiced meat, as well as gamey flavours such as venison.

Quite sweet, reasonable bitterness, doesn’t taste as alcoholic as you might expect, OK but not exciting.
Marek –
Very good bitter. Rich and balanced taste. You can feel taste from deep bitter to hit of sweet. Strong lager but doesn’t feel alcohol there.
Kristin –
Not very complex , average strong lager taste

A very drinkable, crisp, refreshing bock. Tastes like a session beer but the abv suggests otherwise. A very pleasant piwo.

Wasn’t very keen on this have tasted better polish lagers

Polish beer is underrated, I’m surprised no one else has given this 5 stars. It is not as sweet as German bocks and easy to drink considering the ABV.
Stujago –
I would say this has an average lager taste but a bit stronger and fruitier. Smooth considering the ABV.

A good pale Bock. Colour and clarity excellent, and a good long(ish) lasting head. Only a hint of hops and quite noticeable sweetness belies the strength of this beer. The only criticism is that there is very little lingering aftertaste which would be nice.

it’s very crisp, but the flavours are pretty weak given the strength.
