Tegernseer Spezial Hell is an Export Helles, or Dortmunder, from Brauhaus Tegernsee. There’s been a brewery on the site of the current Tegernseer brewery in Bavaria since the 17th century, and the present-day brewery is known for its traditional Bavarian beers. Tegernseer Spezial Hell is slightly stronger in ABV than a Helles, or Hell lager.
Tegernseer Spezial Hell pours a crisp golden colour, with the aroma of bread, biscuit malt and a faint floral note from the hops. The flavour is malty, with a hint of orange and floral hops, with a slightly bitter finish. Buy Tegernseer Spezial Hell for a crisp, refreshing Dortmunder designed to help you unwind at the end of a long day.

This beer is a knockout; first rate Spezial Hell.
Strong kick of ABV but held well by enough malt, and light hops. A triumph from a superb brewery. Must try if available.

One of my favourite German beers. Tegernsee is about 15 miles south of Munich, very close to the Austrian border. Its style is close to the “big six” from Munich. It is very easy to drink with a soft entry and semi sweet flavour. If only it were more readily available in the U K. Buy it quickly when available. Delicious.

Lovely. Another classic session ale. Recommended.

Tegernseer Spezial Hell is a refreshing beer, I suppose it is ‘spezial” because it is stronger than other helles beers at 5.6%. It is a clear, light amber colour and has a fine head when first poured. Altogether a pleasing, easy-to-drink beer which, when you’ve finished a bottle makes you reach for another.

My first beer from Brauhaus Tegernsee.
This is a classically sharp, golden coloured Helles with a sweetish malty flavour leaving a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.
Really enjoyable with a strong kick.
A winner for me.!
Troy Burrows –
Really good refreshing beer. It Amber like colour has fine throth when pouring out. Very easy drink look for ordering more

My third favourite beer behind Tegernseer Hell and Augustiner Hell. Pleasant after taste and more of a kick than the Tegernseer Hell. With lager I like it fresh and crisp with not too strong a taste so I always feel I need a couple of T.H down the hatch first to soften up before hitting the Spezials. Yes I know I am trying to sound like German beer expert and I am far from it!!! I do however know a good lager when I taste one and with this product you will not be disappointed. Enjoy peeps!

Everything about this beer screams ‘quality’. It pours clear amber tending to straw-coloured with a fluffy white head which dissipates fairly quickly. There is none of that sulphurous pong which mars many a lager – this smells fresh and slightly fruity. The taste is quite sweet, again with a citrus back-end, which is balanced well with a long, somewhat hoppy aftertaste. Very easy drinking lager.

Another gem from Brauhaus Tegernsee. Quite strong for a Helles at 5.6% but very smooth and very drinkable. I normally always get a few of these when they are in stock.

A golden colour, with a bready aroma, a delicate floral note from the hops. Tastes a little malty, orange hint, flowery with a gentle bitter finish. I would definitely buy this again, fantastic at the end of a long summers day.

Spezial is the right word for this quality Dortmunder which goes above and beyond in terms of delivering a clean crisp refreshment
Stujago –
A decent lager, which is quite strong and full-bodied for a helles. It has a bitter edge. Nice straw colour and good fizz.
Jacqueline Tivey –
Hubby’s absolute favourite Bavarian beer !
Buy it whenever it’s in stock but they don’t last long once they’re delivered !!
Christine Saunders –
smooth easy drinking beer, has strong after taste
Michael Moore –
Excellent quality Dortmunder.
DSK –
As others have menitoned in their reviews, this is a full-bodied brew and wonderfully delicious. It’s strong and malty, but very smooth going down. This has become one of my favourites!!
Paul Boniface –
This is an excellent Dortmunder, full bodied, brilliant after taste and really easy to drink. Superb
James Murray –
Classic Bavarian lager. On the strong side at 5.6% but it’s a Spezial so that accounts for this. Clean, golden, smooth and like most Bavarian lagers extremely drinkable . Very good lager bier. Highly recommend .
Chris Meechan –
Tegernseer’s He’ll is the better known beer but the Spezial is actually the better lager. A sweet, malty beer with a biscuity dry finish.
Peter –
a cracking refreshing and tasty beer
William Johnson-Smith –
I came across this beer, whilst looking for something new to try and was pleasantly surprised, so I thought I would try it again. A great hop/malt balance and though a little on the strong side, with its 5.6% ABV, it does go down well.
WJ –
Full bodied and very tasty. Tends to the sweet side.
Carolyn Baskerville –
Great lager – love this one and Tegernseer Hell
Luke Manley –
One of the best helles you can buy!
Mark Woodward –
Fairly new to me and a pleasant surprise. Very refreshing but perhaps a little strong – not complaining though!
David Beckham –
Very nice beer, easy to drink. Would recommend
