Löwenbräu Original is a quintessential Helles lager crafted by the historic Löwenbräu brewery in Munich, Germany. Brewed according to the Bavarian purity law, Reinheitsgebot, this beer ensures top quality by using only the finest natural ingredients. It boasts an ABV of 5.2%, presenting a bright golden color and a smooth, clean finish.
The Löwenbräu brewery, with roots tracing back to 1383, is a significant part of Munich’s beer heritage and has been a staple at Oktoberfest since its inception. Löwenbräu Original features a subtly dry, spicy taste with light maltiness and a delicate hop bitterness, making it a refreshing and balanced choice for beer enthusiasts.

Mr G A Innes-Johnstone –
It’s Lowenbrau. It’s from Munich. Not the British brewed stuff we had in the 80’s & 90’s from Tetley/Taylor Walker. The original beer manna from Bavarian heaven.
Dean Griffiths –
You can’t go wrong with a bit of Lowenenbrau, It used to be available quite readily in U.K. supermarkets a few years but haven’t seen it for ages. So it was great to find it on here and enjoy a glass at home again.
Ray Dance –
Dean is right! Super smooth Lowenbrau original. Happy memories of drinking steins of this at my few visits to the Oktoberfest. Lowenbrau tent was always the most popular! Prost!
Derek Bucknell –
An excellent example of this beer type, delicious and even the label on the bottle is classy
Alastair_H –
Quality German Larger, nice crisp taste. one of my favourites.
Andy Nichols –
An excellent beer! It is very drinkable with a progressive dryness with each sip. Has to be tried and compared to the other big lagers. A classic.
Craig Gilhooley –
Great beer. Easy to enjoy while relaxing.
Aidan Turton –
Drank a shed load of this when I was in Munich. This is my German lager of choice.
Jim –
Good, solid beer. A flashback to the 80’s when this was all over the place. There’s better out there, but it’s still a solid ale
Richard Martin –
A classic Bavarian lager-style beer. Great, clear initial taste, plenty of flavour and no bitterness at all at the end
Chris –
Great beer, my favourite German lager. Smooth and refreshing, not too heavy and couldn’t even taste any bitterness at the end.
DW –
One of the nicest beers on the face of the earth. An absolute treat.
ian –
in my opinion one the most refreshing of all German pilsners. plenty of body yet not heavy..
William Johnson-Smith –
This is my favourite go to beer on the planet and is consistently good. It’s a classic of its style, nicely carbonated, with a superb malt/hop balance, an almost bready flavour and honeyish after taste. Best drunk from a porcelain Stein.
Brian Chadwick –
Lager that has no bitter aftertaste and not too gassy. Goes well with curry. Very refreshing on a hot summers day.
Hywel Davies –
Another classic Munich beer. Top taste. At just over 5% it’s a good drop.
Ian A –
A great classic refreshing German Pilsner. Definitely recommended.
Alan Hastings –
No wonder this is Germany finest with it fresh refreshing taste. Wish I had bought more and it was very close to becoming a rare 5 star review from me.

A nice clean, crisp, smooth lager. Classic munich beer to enjoy on a hot summer’s day or like me after a hard’s day shift at work. Great beer
Paul C –
A really enjoyable Bavarian lager.
Very smooth, clear and golden with a hoppy balance of flavours.
Leaves a nicely dry aftertaste.
Up there with the classic lagers.
Glenn Hall –
Drank this for many years when in Munich and continued when back in the UK. Always tastes great and very refreshing.
Neil C –
Excellent lager. Would definitely recommend it.
Kevin –
Lovely Beer, refreshing and full of flavour – can easily sink 2 or 3 at a time
Ian W –
Great refreshing lager, slightly more tangy than a helles. Good mouthefeel and round-bodied, like an Export even. Recommended..

A really good lager from one of the Munich big five. Highly recommended.
Christine Saunders –
a nice easy drinking smooth beer
Richard Powell –
Such a great tasting beer bringing back great memories of Munich
Alex Ginge –
A great introduction to German Lager. If I could only drink one beer for the rest of my life, I would be happy if it was this one. You can’t beat it straight of the fridge and into a frosty stein on a summers day. Just perfect.
John Lloyd –
Great quality larger.
Simon K –
A great lager from Munich. Enjoy it with some Brockwurst and Bratwurst.
Tony Singleton –
A classic German bier that takes me back to the first Lowenbrau Munchener pub that I visited in Herford in the late 70s. I remember at the time that the taste was totally unique for me, but that was on draft. Sadly, the bottled version does not have the same impact, but still a nice drop.
Tom Rapley –
The classic German lager which has disappeared from pubs & bars in the UK for a couple of decades now. Clean, crisp taste and refreshing. Great to be able to order it on Beers of Europe
Richard –
A very steady and fine example of German brewing perfection. An easy 5 stars.
Stephen Parker –
Classic German lager. Delicious ice cold
Kul –
Pours a light bright straw yellow, wonderful volumous white head.
Has a smooth crisp taste followed by a gentle bitterness on the tongue.
A smoother taste than I remember, go and try a bottle, worth a go.
Carolyn Baskerville –
Our Favourite lager!
Chris Boddy –
I love Lowenbrau. It’s not too bitter and is really refreshing – it’s good with a curry as it’s not too gassy.
Paul Boniface –
A classic lager, clean and crisp tasting and easy to drink.
WJ –
I didn’t find this bitter at all, it has a nice earthiness to it from the barley malt I assume and is not overly sweet. Very crisp and definitely best ice cold.
Matthew Osborn –
excellent malty flavoursome beer – will definitely order again
Mark Woodward –
One of my top five German beers the Octoberfest version is even better!
Tony Hartley –
Would like to give this 4.5 but no half marks allowed and its too good and consistent to be judged just a 4. Archtypical German lager. Not fancy, not amazing, but just the job and consistent as you like. (I’ve a soft spot for TSV 1860 Munchen too, though i’d not let that cloud my beer judgement).
Catherine Bridges –
Bought many times for a friend who REALLY enjoys these Lowenbrau Original…. no doubt I will be buying again
Luke Manley –
Great beer. Would buy again.
PK –
This is not what was sold in pubs in the UK in the past, 5 stars, smooth mellow , like most German beers, not to gassy, leaves that peppery ,creamy after taste, always order if in stock, and no morning after headache, because it,s natural ingrediants.
David Deguara –
I have been drinking Lowenbrau for nigh on 30 years – crisp and smooth. Are there better beers – yes, have I tasted better – yes, but this has always been my go to German lager.
Opted for four stars – but would rate it 4.5 if half options were available.
Anthony Steel –
So easy to drink.Different at first to most other similar beers sold in Britain but you soon get used to it and enjoy it.
Ryan Winson –
Delicious and so drinkable. Outstanding beer
John G –
Better than I expected!
John Prideaux –
A standard, good quality beer from one of Munichs big six. Superior to most lagered beers, not particulatly bitter but nicely rounded. Very decent beer but there are better from Munich?
