Fortuna Hell is a German Helles beer, a traditional pale lager from the Bavarian region of southern Germany. Easy-drinking with low bitterness, the word ‘Helles’ derives from the German for ‘bright’. What is the difference between a Pils and a Helles? Generally, a Helles, or Hell beer, has a lower bitterness and ABV than a pilsener. Helles lagers are typically brewed around the Munich area of Germany.
Fortuna Hell is a supremely drinkable beer, pouring a golden yellow with a fluffy white head. The aroma is subtle honey and floral. Fortuna Hell has a lemony flavour, with low bitterness and a full malt body. Buy Fortuna Hell for a flavourful, easy-drinking German lager, typical of the Helles style.

The star system does this a bit of a disservice. I don’t think it is a 4, but I would certainly rate it at 3.8. I believe this is a distribution brand of Riegele in Augsburg. I suspect it is brewed to be typical of the style, which it is. It has a good full body, good flavour and very drinkable, although no oustanding features to give it a slightly higher score. It isn’t as good as my favourite Andechs, but I certainly will order more, and enjoy drinking it.
