A cause for celebration among weissbier fans!
A particularly strong, spicy aroma, a distinctive yeast flavour and an unmistakable top-fermenting beer profile – these are the characteristics of ERDINGER’s new family member in good old Bavarian tradition. The recipe for Urweisse dates back to the brewery’s founding days over 120 years ago. It owes its distinctive, traditional weissbier flavour to a special malt, a different hop variety and a special yeast.
And as appearance is just as important, Urweisse has been given its own special look – which will especially please all friends of the “good old Bavarian tradition”. The label features the historic “Beautiful Tower” of Erding. The Euro bottle and original glass awake memories of days gone by. The new crate is also particularly eye-catching with its historic wooden look and “scorched” lettering.

This is definitely one of the better hefeweizen I’ve tried. Much tastier than the standard Erdinger. It has a lovely aroma with a banana taste. On a par with Franziskaner.

Really good hefeweizen. Kind of semi-dark in colour. Low hops as you’d expect for the style. Good balance of banana and cloves. Thick texture. Full of yeast.

My first taste of this Urweisse, and although I have had the more common Erdinger weiss beer this is in a different league. It pours with a nice, creamy-looking head which holds. As Robert implied below, the colour is slightly darker than most wheats and starts with a taste of spices (clove and nutmeg) with banana notes. The after taste is very pleasant somewhere between sweet and bitter and with a distinctive hoppy, malty finish. Another recommend from me!

A good weissbeer but didn’t notice a great difference between this and the standard erdinger. Possibly doesn’t justify the price difference

A distinctive enjoyable Hefeweizen.
Pours with a dense creamy head with light banana and predominantly clove flavours.
Malty,hoppy with a bitter aftertaste.
I personally prefer the standard Erdinger which ,for me,has a deeper soother texture.

What a beer! Wonderful dark cloudy yellow in colour, almost hazy golden.
A nose that is gentle, sweet slightly spicy, the taste matches the aroma.. Smooth on the palate with a full white volumous head.
This is one to try again and again, go and get some!

First time trying this one. Really enjoyed it and will be ordering more. Very clean and refreshing beer enjoyed after a hard days work in the garden. A great beer from a great brewer

Great beer – really puts to shame the standard one that’s sold in the supermarkets
