Trappist Achel Brune is a Belgian strong ale from Trappist Achel brewery. Achel Abbey is one of the six designated ‘Trappist’ breweries of Belgium, authorised to use the term, Trappist, for their beers. This beer is closest in style to an abbey dubbel, with the dark brown colour, strength and full-bodied flavour typical of this style.
Trappist Achel Brune pours a dark brown colour, with a tan head. Aromas of burned sugar, roasted malts and orange zest rise from the beer. The flavour is sweet, with ripe fruit notes and a slight coffee bitterness to balance the sweetness from the malt. Buy Trappist Achel Brune for a well-respected, complex Belgian strong ale from an authentic Trappist brewery.

Dark, smooth, sweet and surprisingly mellow for an 8%-er. Flavours soften and become fruitier as the beer warms up a bit. A fantastic brew for a chilly winter night.

A good dubbel Brown beer

Not tried this beer before so got a few bottles. At 8% it is quite potent and has a strong flavour and good head. A great dark brown Trappiste beer!

This beer is in Roger Protz book “300 Beers to try before you die!”, although back in 2013 it was only 5%, rather than thev8% it is now.
The beer is a lovely deep russet colour, and has a very pleasant malt/ roasted flavour with some spiciness.
Have just enjoyed a bottle in front of an open fire. A lovely way to end the evening.

Holding this up to the light I find it is ruby brown with a big white head Aromas include fruity molasses biscuit with toffee Tastes of pepper first then banana caramel bread. A soft easy drinking brown that hides the ABV well to me a bit better than the Blonde tonight probably because it is January.

At 8% it’s not for the faint hearted, naturally it’s sweet with a dark brown hue and thick creamy head – it’s one to enjoy on a cold winters evening.

Light muddy brown appearance in the glass, shine a light from behind and its deep dark amber/ruby. Quite strong this one but goes down easily. Not really my favourite beer because nothing seems to stand out apart from the colour. A bit of pepper maybe, i have another bottle that im going to give 6 monthe in the dark cupboard, see if it improves any.

This has become my ‘go to’ beer quite unexpectedly. It is full with notes of caramel. I slightly prefer it to the blonde,
