Brewed by 8 Sail Brewery who were established in 2010. The brewery nestles in the shadow of Heckington Windmill, Britain’s only eight sailed windmill, from which it takes it’s name.
8 Sail Fen Slodger is a premium copper coloured bitter, flavoured with traditional English hops.
Fen Slodgers were the dwellers of the fens before they were drained and were described as “half amphibious beings who got their living by fishing and fowling”.

Caramel aroma with fruity flavours.

Sorry, but this was not to my taste. a strong mallic flavour put me off. Maybe it was past its’ best, but it was still a month within date.
Sad to say that after a few mouthfuls it went down the sink. I have enjoyed 3 other beers from 8 Sail so maybe it is my taste.
David Winter –
Hard to get excited about a bitter, but this one is a little different. Strong, stout-like mothfeel, woody, toffee, malty, hops, with a very bitter, metallic edge. Quite full-on and won’t be to everyone’s taste, little sweet or fruity here.
