Brewed by 8 Sail Brewery who were established in 2010. The brewery nestles in the shadow of Heckington Windmill, Britain’s only eight sailed windmill, from which it takes it’s name.
Damsons add a full bodied fruitiness to this beer. Rich and complex flavours are provided by Pale, Amber, Brown and Black Malts.

8 Sail Brewery Damson Porter is 500ML and 5% ABV. It has a nice smell and great taste with a pleasant aftertaste. My top ale ( Adur Brewery Black William ) tastes similar to this. Will definitely buy this one again.

A bit of an oddity, rather medicinal on first taste, tar & liquorice, but gives way to plenty of boozy fruit, was really getting into it by the end, one to get again.

Not to my personal taste, but it’s definitely suited to those who like a strong fruit beer as the flavour of the damson really comes through in the brew.
Adam Randall –
Nice smoky aroma and taste with quite a tannin bitterness. Not much damson flavour remains although there is a pleasant dry tartness. More of a stout really.
Neil Ward –
This was quite similar to the Victorian Porter by the same brewery but with quite subtle plummy notes. I’d have preferred a bit more fruit flavour but it was nice enough.

Pours dark brown, small beige head,
Aroma of roasted malts, biscuit, toffee, light coffee, some vague fruitiness.
Taste starts with an initial under-ripe plum sourness which must be the damsons (never had one!), roasted malts, some toffee and coffee, fruitiness comes back in at end with a light bitterness but its not an overly sweet beer so its balanced.
Its quite a pleasant if simple porter.
