Other Information

The title of the oldest brewery in the world is in the hands of Weihenstephaner, founded in 1040 on the Weihenstephan hill north of Munich in Freising. The brewery has operated for almost 1000 years. Along with some of the world’s most knowledgeable brew masters, it has produced an excellent range of beers, all in accordance with the German Reinheisgebot which has helped it to secure numerous awards internationally for its products as well as being appreciated by connoisseurs in over 30 countries worldwide every day.
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier weighs in at 5.4% and is a German wheat beer at the top of its class. The world’s oldest brewery certainly knows a thing or two about brewing a high quality beverage whatever the style. It appears a yellow/gold in colour with a fine poured white head. The haze, as is signature of a wheat beer, is present, and releases an aroma of cloves, banana and nutmeg coming from the malts used. The malt is once again evident in the taste, balanced by the fruit and spices that the hops bring to the table and it combines beautifully to produce a spectacular wheat beer that does exactly what it should. Refreshing and smooth, this beer can be paired with seafood or fish as well as cheese or Bavarian dishes. This is brewed to a tradition centuries old, but when the result is this good, why change?

Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.

Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.

Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.

We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.

We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.

Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.

If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.

Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.

Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. Either call us on 01553 812000 or email our [email protected] to hear from our customer service team. Check out delivery details for more information.

If you have changed your mind for whatever reason, you can consult our returns information, or get in contact on 01553 812000.

  1. Stujago

This is a very nice hefeweizen. It has a lovely golden orange colour snd the head was expanding foam. The flavours are very balanced without being strong. An easy drink with a slightly tart undertone.

  2. Aidan Turton

This is my all time favourite wheat beer. It’s the oldest brewery in the world and it is still going strong today! Excellent taste, not too heavy and leaves you wanting the next bottle.

  3. Eric Akrill

This is a beer I have drunk on many occasions and it never fails to impress. As you pour it, there develops a lovely thickish head which contains some spicy and fruity aromas. Then to sup it, and how refreshing it is, leaving a subtly deceptive but very enjoyable after taste. A definite repeat buy for me.

  4. Alastair_H

Enjoyed this one, nice wheat beer. Enjoyed the taste and will have this one again.

  5. Robert Harkin

This is a unique beer, a well balanced refreshing Weiss beer, 1 is never enough, just what you’d expect from the oldest brewery in the world.

  6. Pete Saunders

Probably the best hefeweizen I’ve had to date. Gloriously decadent creamy head, distinctive banana and cloves and just a touch of lasting bitterness.

  7. Paul C

I have just received my first order from Beers of Europe and I have not been disappointed. This was the first beer I tried. This weissbeer is golden brown and has a beautiful creamy head with sharp aroma of banana and especially cloves.smooth tasting all the way down I can see this becoming one of my favourite beers.

  8. James Baxter

My favorite Weissbier it just tastes better than most other wheat bier’s and I lived in Germany for 15 years and have probably drank most wheat bier’s made in Bavaria there are few as good as this

  9. James K

An extremely good Weissbier and probably my favourite. Goes down very well and would highly recommend.

  10. Luke Canning

Nice enough wheat beer, but not something that I would have again after trying it for the first time.

  11. Kristin

Not had a bad beer from Weihenstephaner and this one is a very drinkable weissbier: well balanced, refreshing, clean taste. Everything you want in a weissbier

  12. Andy P

Absolutely love this one. Great example of a German wheat beer. Really refreshing and moreish!

  13. Simon Tomlinson

Brilliant white frothy head stayed on a hazy, highly carbonated, vivid golden body. Wheat, lemon, banana & citrus aroma. Medium body, tangy, sharp & slightly cloying on the back. Yeast, wheat, banana & sweet orange tastes.

  14. Alastair Paterson

    An excellent weissbier.
A bit fuller in body and flavour than, say, Erdinger or Paulaner, which are my staple weissen.

  15. Paul Boniface

An absolutely superb wheat beer. A great flavour of fruit and spices are excellently balanced. Easy to drink and very refreshing. If you haven’t tried it, do so, you won’t be disappointed. I shall be ordering this again and again.

  16. Chris Meechan

One of the very best hefeweizens on the market. Sweet banana and clove, lightly spiced with an almost bubblegum like finish.

  17. Kris

Hands down one of the nicest weissbiers I have sampled – the right kind of depth where its complex yet still balanced.

  18. Matthew W

Pours a hazy dark orange with small fairly tight white head, good retention.
Aroma of creamy wheat, banana, clove, light spice. Very solid and inviting on the nose.
Taste matches the aroma, very smooth with all the elements you want including that spice coming through at the end.
    Medium bodied and soft carbonation.
    Very good tasty beer.

  19. Gavin Harrison

Another excellent beer from this very consistent brewery. A good rich amber colour and typically cloudy with a good head. Complex fruity, spicy and bready flavours make this one of the best wheat beers.

  20. Blinco

I had never tried a wheatear before but tried a selection over the last couple of years and this is my favourite. I wasn’t keen on it at first but now it’s great .

  21. Liam Lewis

A very drinkable wheat beer. Cloudy orange in colour and nice flavours of banana and clove. Pours with a good head with good retention. Would buy this again.
