Schlenkerla Smoke beer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smoke malt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

Yes, there are age restrictions in place. In the United Kingdom, the legal age to purchase alcohol is 18 years old. Beers of Europe strictly adheres to these regulations and by agreeing to our Terms and Conditions on checkout you confirm that you are over 18 years old. In store, we operate a Challenge 25 policy, which means that if you appear to be under 25 years old, you will be asked for identification to verify your age.

For some products supply can be inconsistent, whether that is at the brewery itself or how often we or its supplier imports it. For products that are out of stock, you can sign up to be notified of its return on the product page. From there, as soon as we book the stock in we send an email to you.
Bottles and labels can and do vary. This means that the images shown on our website may not be the same as current stock items. If the bottle or label is important please check before ordering. Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.
Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.
We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.
We do not have a minimum purchase amount, but delivery charges may apply.

We use a variety of thick and sturdy cardboard boxes and dividers to hold each bottle individually. Any remaining spaces are filled with biodegradable air bags to stop movement of the contents. Glasses are wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard to ensure they arrived in once piece.
When placing your order please add the details at checkout. We regret that if your order has been packed and is ready to despatch that amendments cannot be made.
All of our orders are shipped without any pricing or payment details, these are in the confirmation email. The only paperwork in the box contains a summary of the order and addresses.
On checkout you can add a message to your order.
Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.
We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.
We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.
Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.
If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.
Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.
Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

I bought this beer as it was a product of the city of Bamberg, which I had visited on holiday. It has an initial palm of violet taste which ends with a smoky finish. There also some malty flavours and a hint of hops too. The beer has a nice texture too. It’s an interesting beer but not sometimes that really appeals to me.

An acquired taste. A friends wife is from Bamberg and they always brought a crate or two back from their visits. My initial taste wasn’t that favourable, but over 36 years now, I have grown to love this and the red label as well.

Extremely smoky to the point it smells like a wet ashtray and leaves a lingering acrid aftertaste.
A classic example of the style, hundreds of years of history behind this brewery which pre-dates the Purity Laws by a century.
Well worth trying if only to experience something totally different. But don’t necessarily expect to enjoy or want to repeat the experience.

Ok, this is clearly a Marmite beer, love it or hate it. It’s an acquired taste, and i’ve clearly not acquired it yet!! it is exactly as described. if you like this kind of thing you will love this but it’s not for me.

Such an interesting flavour.
It had an almost smoky smell, hard to describe, I also smelt banana.
I could taste hints of banana and also it’s funny how it has a bit of a meaty aftertaste. It is definitely worth trying as it’s quite different.

This beer pours a hazy mahogany with a large, velvety head that slowly fades, and which carpets the glass with generous lacing. The aroma is quite sweet, yet it struggles to come through the peaty smokiness.. The taste is quite ‘wheaty’ with a hint of caramel, but again you need to search for it through the bacon. Smoky, but nowhere near as overpowering as the Marzen.

These Schlenkerla beers are really interesting and well worth trying. It’s like bacon beer and although that might sound a bit unpleasant it’s not. I preferred the wheat one to the lager.

I couldn’t believe you guys stocked this. Haha what a pleasant surprise. It’s good and unique. Smoke flavor / some describe it as bacon. It comes from the old part of the city in Bamberg. I’m told that it’s characteristic flavor comes from a historical technique originally intended to preserve it. Worth giving a try for sure!

Smoke flavour is less pronounced than on the Schlenkerla marzen which was too much for me. Not for everyone, including me. Might try it again some time though.
