Rothaus Pils Tannenzapfle is a pilsner from the Rothaus brewhouse in the village of Grafenhausen in the southern Black Forest. The brewery uses only regional ingredients including hops from neighbouring Tettnang and Hallertau. One of Germany’s most successful breweries. Rothaus is often referred to as ‘The original Black Forest beer’. Powerful and lively, Rothaus Pils Tannenzapfle pours a light, golden yellow colour, crowned with fine foam. Aromas of Black Forest meadow herbs greet the nose while on the palate, the brew offers hop bitterness and malt sweetness. Buy Rothaus Pils Tannenzapfle for an authentic and characterful Black Forest original.

Bottles and labels can and do vary. This means that the images shown on our website may not be the same as current stock items. If the bottle or label is important please check before ordering. Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.

Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.

Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.

We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.

We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.

Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.

If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.

Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.

Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. Either call us on 01553 812000 or email our [email protected] to hear from our customer service team. Check out delivery details for more information.

If you have changed your mind for whatever reason, you can consult our returns information, or get in contact on 01553 812000.

  1. Keith Osborne

Love this beer. The best I’ve found while travelling around Germany.

  2. Steven Allen

Quite a chalky taste with lots of hopps, it worked for me as a slow sipping beer, but found it quite intense, would probably worked better with a curry. If you’re looking for a strong flavoured lager, this could be for you, not something I’m crazy about.

  3. Stujago

A bitter pilsener with a malty/grainy background. Similar to Jever. Very nice. Fizz is spicy on the tongue.

  4. Steve Hawkins

Sweet on the nose. Bittersweet flavour when sipped. A bit of honey is there. The finish is bold, but brief.

  5. Johanna Späth

The best beer in the world brewed in the Black Forest. Hard to find in the UK so was thrilled to find it. Would be even better if the other varieties were stocked as well.

  6. Ian A

I love this German Beer and was that impressed with my first order of it, I ordered another case.

  7. DSK

This is a nice one aus dem Schwarzwald! I remember having this years ago during one of my many travels throughout Germany and it has always remained a favourite. It is slightly bitter-sweet, yet has a very nice depth and finish. Very enjoyable and I love the design on the label!

  8. Thomas McVeigh

With all of the consolidation and corporate takeovers going on around the traditional German beer industry, which seems to be now producing some blander “globalised”beers this is a welcome change. A real punchy semi-sweet delight which harks back to the delicious beers I used to drink in the 80’s and to me is the real flavour of Germany. Full marks to Brauerei Rothaus and the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg for keeping to style. Incidentally, the Black Forest Single Malt Whisky from Rothaus is also very enjoyable too.

  9. Ian S

Lovely easy drinking beer. The flavour is semi-sweet and seems stronger than it actually is. I would buy this beer again.

  10. Sean Mc

One of my absolute favourite pilseners. Pours beautifully golden with a thick white head. Starts wonderfully floral and sweet-tasting with a hint of something bitter breaking through. This alone makes me want to travel to the Black Forest. Sink a couple of these and you could easily imagine yourself there!

  11. Al

Top top pilsner this, sweet taste with a mild bitterness at the end. Has a long lasting white head also. Think this is a perfect summer lager, refreshing and goes down a treat.

  12. Al Paton

Wonderful, refreshing taste; not overpowering but fresh and leaving you wanting more.

  13. Paul Boniface

One of my favourite pilsners, easy to drink,, superb taste, an excellent summer drinking beer. Actually it’s good all year round.

  14. Paul C

You make a decision on whether you like something right from the first taste.
Sharp, sweet, dry and peppery,it leaves a nice bitter aftertaste.
    This is an excellent Pilsner.
Pity they don’t appear to produce a 500ml bottle !!

  15. Maximilian Evans

A wonderful pilsener. I would strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys German beer. A balanced fresh taste and a good strength at 5.1%. Just a shame they do not sell 50cl.

  16. william docherty

Nice smooth tasting Pils . Best served in a small frosted glass

  17. Kris

The classic pils – one of the best version of this type of beer that money can buy.

  18. Harry Watson

Lovely tasting beer from the Freiburg area.

  19. Andy Nichols

One of the Pilsners around no doubting it!

  20. Adam Harvey

Really good lager. A nice hoppy bitterness but not overpowering. Crisp and refreshing.

  21. Bruce Livingstone

I think this is my favourite pils – like thrusting your face into an Alpine stream. Has a slight mineral quality.

  22. Paul Massey

This is probably the best beer I have tried in ages, nice balance of flavours, very refreshing,

  23. Jens

Classic Pils from the Black Forest, clean, crisp, with a solid, hoppy body and brewed with very soft water. The smaller 330ml bottles ensure it stays fresh , the perfect summer drink.

  24. Steven Nicholas

One of the more hoppy pils, tastes fresh with a medium body. A really good refreshing and tasty lager.

  25. Eamonn

I do like beers from Rothaus brewery, there beer clean crisp and is a drink that has been around years without spoiling the taste
