Other Information

A beer that has a dominant malty taste. This beer’s origins in a monk’s recipe are reflected in its heartiness. The Pope of Beers, Conrad Seidl, describes it as: “Almost black with a very slight red tone, a sensational, festive foam and truly extraordinary fragrance that at first summons up visions of greaves lard. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. There is very little of the sweetness that is frequently to be tasted with doppelbock beer.”

The Ayinger Celebrator has been ranked among the best beers of the world by the Chicago Testing Institute several times and has won numerous medals.

For some products supply can be inconsistent, whether that is at the brewery itself or how often we or its supplier imports it. For products that are out of stock, you can sign up to be notified of its return on the product page. From there, as soon as we book the stock in we send an email to you.

Bottles and labels can and do vary. This means that the images shown on our website may not be the same as current stock items. If the bottle or label is important please check before ordering. Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.

Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.

We do not have a minimum purchase amount, but delivery charges may apply.

Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.

We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.

We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.

Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.

If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.

Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.

Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. Either call us on 01553 812000 or email our [email protected] to hear from our customer service team. Check out delivery details for more information.

If you have changed your mind for whatever reason, you can consult our returns information, or get in contact on 01553 812000.

  1. Stujago

This is the smoothest doppelbock I’ve tried. It is more bitter than sweet and is divided between malty and dark fruit flavours. A must try if you are sampling bocks.

  2. Charlie Johnson

A full five stars!. 6.7% of Rich Dark Malty Caramely goodness, not as sweet as some doppelbock beers but a definite addition to my repeat buying list.

  3. Marcus Wellings

Great tasting beer doesn’t taste like a 6.7% beer goes down nice and smooth 3rd time I’ve ordered this beer

  4. Paul C

    Saved this for my birthday.
    Worth the wait .
Really smooth malty Doppelbock with a liquorice aftertaste.
    Definitely have again.

  5. Kul

A lovely mocha coloured foam, dark body but red when held to the light. Great subtle but defined malty taste which lingers at the back of the throat then comes back to tickle your tongue.
At 6.7% you need to respect this beer as well as love it.

  6. Kristin

Very nice beer! Malty, caramel and a lovely taste of licorice. So smooth,

  7. John Sanders

I’ve been saving this bottle for a rainy day (ok, it was in the back of the cupboard and I completely forgot it was there). This beer pours almost black, but hold it up to the light and there is a deep red. Not a massive head and it dies quickly, but that may be due to the choice of glass – a goblet Not a lot of aroma – a slight woody fustiness but the sweetness of the malt is pleasant. The taste is simply fantastic, and isn’t that what it’s all about? Malt, figs, plums – typical Doppelbock but this is on another level. A surprisingly dry finish as the hops make their presence felt. World class.

  8. Colin A

It’s a fairly strong percent beer but doesn’t taste it, so it’s pretty easy to drink. Very dark beer with mild carbonation with not much head. not too hoppy, more malty and very nice tasting.

  9. Kris

Nice little treat of a beer I enjoyed last night – feels well balanced between a dark lager and Belgian style strong beer. Plus it comes with a nice tag

  10. David Hanson

Solid malty & fruity. Not sweet but taste of toffee & licorice

  11. James Russell

Malty & rich flavour. Its growing on me, I’m enjoying this more as I drink more of it.

  12. Peter

not bad at all, would buy again

  13. Beerdrinker

Very nice indeed: dark and lovely

  14. Nick S

Not usually a fan of Doppelbocks, but have to admit I quite enjoyed this one.

  15. WJ

Very good doppelbock, sweet and malty, but nothing that sets it apart from the rest. Comes with a toy bock attached for the kids 🙂

  16. FoggyMountainMan

You want to try a few doppelbocks? Make sure to try this fantastic beer.

  17. Luke Manley

A great beer. Would buy again.

  18. Xavier Crepin

I used to like it the first times I tasted it, but this time was a bit disappointed by its lack of taste and depth . Slightly bitter after taste

  19. TG

it’s a good beer, but perhaps not quite the strong flavours of some other Doppelbocks

  20. Steven Nicholas

It’s a very highly regarded doppelbock but I find it less rich than others in the style. Still a fine beer.
