From beer to castle… it’s a long way! Endeavouring to comply with ever more stringent requirements, the master brewer carried out numerous tests before he produced a creamy dark beer.
The fruit of his labours goes under the name of Kasteelbier. It combines the unparalleled quality of the past and a resolutely modern taste. Kasteelbier is a brown craft beer mild and tasty, full bodied and creamy. It has a shelf life of several years.
Also available in 750ml bottles.

This has become a firm personal favourite. Rich and full of flavour on the tongue, its high alcohol content helps to accentuate the taste and provides full mouth sensation and a very satisfying drink.
Jennifer Rowe –
A favourite of my husband, he recommends its great flavour.

Kasteel Donker pours dark brown with a hint of redness, but hold it up to the light and it appears almost maroon in colour. The head is a rich, frothy beige, but it dies within seconds. The smell is lovely – dark fruits, plums, raisins, and of course the typical ‘bready’ odour so typical of top-notch Belgian quadrupels. Although intensely sweet, the ‘alcohol burn’ counterbalances the sugar nicely and other flavours pour through – coffee, chocolate, spiced fruit cake and a maltiness at the end that tickles the roof of the mouth. A world class beer.

Lovely flavours and surprisingly smooth for an 11% beer

Nice beer and at 11% it definitely packs a punch whilst remaining very drinkable.

One of the finest Belgian brown beers I’ve had. Don’t have tasting notes, but scored it 10/10, as I did for Kasteel’s Cuvee du Chateau. Ordering again.
Alan Hicks –
One of my top 5 Belgian beers.
