Fort Lapin Kriek is a kriek lambic beer from Belgian microbrewery Fort Lapin. Based just north of Bruges in Belgium, Fort Lapin is named after the area where the brewery is located. Fort Lapin brewery was established in 2011 as a modern Belgian microbrewery dedicated to making high-end Belgian ales.
What is a kriek lambic beer? The term lambic indicates a beer fermented using wild yeast and bacteria from a particular area of Belgium, the Zenne Valley. As a result of this, the beer takes on a funky, sour character. A kriek lambic has the addition of cherries, giving the beer a deep red colour and strong cherry flavour. Fort Lapin Kriek pours a deep cherry red, with the fruity aroma of fresh cherry rising from the beer. The flavour is sour and fruity, typical of this style. Enjoy with dark chocolate or a fruity dessert.

Not the greatest example of a kriek I have tasted. Lacked the punch and sourness that I would have expected. A nice level of cherry flavour and drank very easily, but a bit too thin.

The beer was very smooth and pleasant to drink but was not as intense a cherry flavour as others I have tried, It has a good cherry aroma and tart finish.

Prosecco/cava/sparkling wine essence. Which is odd. Very carbonated. No cherry flavour at all. Very strange one this! The finish is dry and fizzy. If you like prosecco, cava or sparkling wine then you’ll love this!

Not the usual kriek, I was initially disappointed because I do not get a strong cherry flavour. But as I was drinking this I started to enjoy this very fizzy light beer. Whereas some krieks are a dessert in themselves, this is more a pleasant fruity beer for a hot day

A perfumey Kriek with cherry on the nose and a sweet, slightly tart finish. A nice enough example of the style but there are far better Krieks out there.

This is not what I would consider to be a proper kriek. It pours well, with a decent head and a nice reddish/brown colour, but the flavour doesn’t come through. There’s no ‘real’ cherry flavour, it is quite bland and the after taste leaves you thinking ‘I didn’t really enjoy that.’ Sorry to the Fort Lapin guys, but this isn’t a winner. Not as good as the Fort Lapin blanche, just…

Appears murky pink has a good head My nose finds fruity lemon bubble gum Taste is sweet cherries honey cough sweet. There is no funk in this one and minimal sourness not a classic Kriek very disappointing
