Fort Lapin 10 is a Belgian quadrupel ale from Fort Lapin brewery just north of Bruges, Belgium. Established in 2011, Fort Lapin brewery is a modern Belgian microbrewery dedicated to making high-end Belgian ales. What is a quadrupel ale? A quadrupel ale, or quad, is a strong dark Belgian ale, the name denoting that this beer is the strongest on the scale of malt-forward dubbel, tripel and quadrupel ales.
Fort Lapin 10 uses eight different types of malt in the brew, giving the beer a deep, sweet flavour and a rich chestnut colour. Dark fruit, caramel and figgy flavours are balanced out by spices added to the brew, including clove, coriander, vanilla and juniper. Sip on its own to appreciate the complex flavours, or paired with aged Gouda. Buy Fort Lapin 10 for a rich, complex Belgian quadrupel ale.

Spicy with subtle hints of cinnamon and vanilla.

Pours almost black with a tight, creamy head. The aroma is mildly fruity, but the taste has nothing mild about it at all – full-blown fruits, possibly blackcurrant, but there is an overall sweet cocoa-molasses-liquorice taste going on, all mingled together. The finish is long and dry, like an imperial stout. Not my favourite Fort Lapin beer, but very nice.

This is a lovely complex beer with the right amount of sweetness. Loads of flavours including liquorice & coffee.
Chris Meechan –
A nice example of a Belgian quad, with a strong dark body and notes of brown sugar and some liquorice notes.
Alexey Nekhaenko –
Big fan of quads, so this one’s ok but nothing more than that. Quite unremarkable

Pleasant dark beer. Very easy drinking for it’s strength. Chocolate and coffee flavours evident but the dominant flavour on my tongue was liquorice.. Would go down a storm in Pontefract.

I was given this beer by a restaurant owner in Bruges and loved it. I brought some back with me and was delighted to find that I could get it in England. A firm favourite, 5 Stars from me.
Mike –
Dark brown with a dense, white head. Surprisingly light bodied for the ABV but beautifully balanced.
