Engelszell Benno Trappistenbier is an authentic Trappist dubbel ale from Austrian brewery, Stift Engelszell. Engelszell Abbey was authenticated by the International Trappist Association in 2012, and at the time was only the second brewery outside Belgium to be given accredited Trappist status.
Benno is a dubbel ale; a dark, malty beer brewed with twice the amount of malt as a standard Belgian ale. Pouring a copper colour, Engelszell Benno Trappistenbier offers up dense, fruity aromas of apple, raisin, banana and caramel malts. The flavour is honey-sweet, with stone fruits and a spicy character from the Belgian yeast. Buy Engelszell Benno Trappistenbier to explore an Austrian Trappist ale with a sweet, fruity character.

An Austrian take on the Belgian dubbel beers. A sweet, dry, sour taste, but unfortunately no way as good as any of the Belgian beers I’ve had.

Dark, rich and packs a punch. Smooth, full mouthfeel and a sweet, coffee/toffee-like flavour with a hint of smokiness. A fantastic brew and a great example of a dubbel.

Sweet and smooth, drinkable even at room temperature
