Instantly one of ports most recognisable names, Cockburns is produced from Portugal’s Upper Douro Valley vineyard sand this Late Bottled Vintage Port is made from grapes of a single year. Aged in seasoned oak casks until reaching maturity, which can take up to 6 years, this is a rich and full-bodied port with bags of character. The hot dry summer in the region inspires its intense richness, with hints of mint and rockrose developing from the unique conditions in Douro Valley.
It is deep ruby red in colour, with notes of dark summer fruits and chocolate on the nose. It has a full feel to it, which stems from its wood soaked complexity. This well balanced port has a long and vibrant finish and pairs well with blue cheese or savoury dishes. It can also work well with dark chocolate dishes and should be served at room temperature.
