Filfar Lemon Liqueur is a Cypriot lemon flavoured liqueur. Filfar founder Takis Philippou began producing Cypriot liqueurs in the 1940s, according to a recipe handed down from his grandmother. Following the popularity of the liqueur with his fellow British Army officers, he decided to start producing the liqueurs commercially.
Fresh Cypriot lemons are peeled and then steeped in the spirit for 2-3 months, to produce a tart, fruity liqueur. Filfar Lemon Liqueur is traditionally enjoyed as a digestif after a special meal.
