Based on the original methods pioneered by Jack Ward, one of our founders, our fermentation and blending process takes a bit longer than traditional cider methods. But it’s worth it.
Apple juice is added to produce the hallmark fresh, fruity flavour, followed by some careful blending, before some lucky chaps get paid to taste test it. Once the second stage of filtering is complete, the cider is chilled, carbon dioxide is added, and then it’s bottled ready to be enjoyed.

Been drinking this for nearly 40 years. Best cider ever in my opinion. You used to be able to buy it anywhere and everywhere. However, over the last 5-10 years it had become harder to source. Then, about 3 years ago, Merrydown announced they were ceasing production as, apparently, there wasn’t the demand.
Then, about a year ago, Merrydown announced they were relaunching it – due to popular demand (go figure??). Regardless, I was over the moon. The elation was short lived, though, as it was still harder to find than hens teeth. I set up an alert with Beers of Europe and, out of the blue, a few weeks ago I received an email to say they had 12 bottoles in stock. I ordered all 12 and they were promptly delivered to me here in Dublin.
The only difference is that the ABV is down from 7.5 to 6.8. Apart from that, same great taste. Am now waiting for Beers of Europe to get more stock in. Merrydown seem to be drip feeding supply for some reason – despite the apparent ‘popular demand’ for the stuff.

This is my husbands favourite cider (apparently other ciders just don’t come up to the mark) couldn’t get it for years then suddenly found it again and I have only been able to get it from Beers of Europe. Excellent service, arrived the next day. I will definitely be ordering again.

Increasingly difficult to find the dry is worth seeking out.
