Just when we thought out Gonzo Imperial Porter couldn’t get any better, our brewers age it in oak whiskey barrels for at least 180 days. Pairs well with desserts containing vanilla, chocolate or coffee.
Flavour notes: vanilla notes from the oak and soft whiskey warmth.
Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter –
Like all Flying Dog’s brews, this has real flavour and bite. This is both rich and powerful, definitely for sipping respectfully, not gulping, not rushing.
Alexander Moore –
A strong Imperial Porter. Roast chocolate malt and coffee on the nose. The taste of dark chocolate roast coffee and dark fruit make a fine combination. It does have an alcoholic kick Note that the ABV varies between batches the one I tried was 10%. An excellent beer.
Chris Meechan –
A dark imperial stout with roasty coffee and a warming alcohol finish.
Stujago –
Excellent beer. Not as intense as an imperial stout which is surprising considering the ABV. Very smooth. Balanced between milder roasted, nutty, dark fruit, sweet and coffee flavours.
Chris H –
Pretty smooth strong porter, particularly considering the ABV (10%). Was impressed by the sweetened coffee/ chocolate flavour profile. Maybe just lacked a bit of something on the back end to take this from a good beer to a great one.
Peter –
a really good smooth easy drinking porter considering the ABV, will buy again
Tobias Gill –
Really good beer, ticks all the boxes for this style.
