Deep amber colour. Distinctive flavour. Rich history.
Anchor Steam Beer owes its deep amber colour, thick creamy head and rich distinctive flavour to a brewing process like none other.
It is a process that combines deep respect for brewing tradition with many decades of evolution to arrive at a unique approach: a blend of Pale and Caramel malts, fermentation with lager yeast at warmer ale temperatures in shallow open-air fermenters and gentle carbonation in our cellars through an all-natural process called krausening.

I thought that this is a quality beer. It has a great amber colour and substantial thick, frothy head. The flavours are quite subtle with bitterness being the overriding one with undertones of floral and malt.
Nick Davies –
Good malty flavour with a ‘craft’ type taste to it
Andy Nichols –
Dark amber in colour. Quite a smooth bitter tasting beer. Worth a pop!
Amanda Vinson –
Nice and malty. Super smooth.

As close to a craft beer you can get in terms of lager. Very different to other US lagers

Best American beer I’ve tasted
Chris Meechan –
An absolute classic and one of the most important beers in building the craft beer scene as we know it now. Sweet and spritzy with a dry finish.
Robert Benn –
Good malty taste ideal @ around 5 deg

Great malty taste. My dad loved it.

The iconic craft beer from San Francisco. I can’t believe that it took me so long to finally get around to drinking this beauty! A true Lager/Ale hybrid, with tons of hop character and bitterness. At the same time, it is smooth and easy-going, without being bland. A perfect session beer!

Dark, satisfying and moorish, what more can I say? It’s Anchor Steam, just get some.

My first California Common style beer… very moreish and easy drinking, went down very easily!

I love this lager, one of my favourites. If you haven’t tried it, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Very enjoyable, had many times good all rounder

Refreshing and hoppy. A nice alternative when I don’t want the full-on 8% strength of some of the trappist beers.
Michael O'Driscoll –
Pretty good American Lager. A little different from the regular Anchor Steam beer

Dark amber colour with a rich flavour and great balance of hoppy and maltiness. A favourite of mine from California.
