Other Information

Established in 1758, Samuel Smith is Yorkshire’s oldest brewery. They brew a wide range of high quality beers made solely from authentic, natural ingredients. They still use stone Yorkshire squares to ferment their ales and stouts (with the exception of Sovereign and Extra Stout) as well as the same yeast strain used since the 1800s. Samuel Smiths Organic Chocolate Stout is made with gently roasted, organic cocoa extract which imparts a delicious, smooth and creamy character with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish. The perfect combination of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.

Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.

Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.

We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.

We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.

Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.

If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.

Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.

Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. Either call us on 01553 812000 or email our [email protected] to hear from our customer service team. Check out delivery details for more information.

  1. Steve Hawkins

The best stout I’ve ever tried. Smooth, intensely chocolatey and very moreish! Perfect for after a meal as an alternative to a liqueur. Samuel Smith’s is a fantastic old school brewery with unique features. The aroma is light chocolate. When sipping, distilled chocolate is the main focus. The finish moves to a maltiness which really works.

  2. Darren J Lockwood

This ale has a nice chocolate taste and leaves a pleasant aftertaste

  3. Caroline Wells

Love stout, with a chicolate twist, even better!

  4. lee campling

If you love a chocolate stout full of flavour but not over powering then look no further and order some of these.

  5. Matt

It’s not a too heavy stout with a rich cocoa taste. Some other chocolate stouts end up being either overpowering or with very little chocolate taste to them. Nice wee beer with a satisfying chocolate taste

  6. Julie Jones

I always buy this for my husband. He has always been a Guinness lover but this has trumped the Irish Stuff and is now his number one stout.

  7. Adam Randall

You need to like chocolate, but if you do, this is the stuff for you! Lush full chocolate taste – more like sweet milk choc than bitter dark – but with a nice gentle bitterness that really sets it off, so it’s not cloying. Far too moreish for its strength!

  8. Richard Clark

Full bodied with a great chocolate flavour. Not highly carbonated with is great making it more like a hand pulled stout. I find that pouring from hIght gets rid of any residual carbonation and brings out the full flavour of the drink. Enjoy

  9. Robert Barnes

I’ve got to admit that this organic chocolate stout is one of my all-time favourites.
I’m not sure that they sell it on draught, but if I could find a pub locally that did… it would be a session well spent.

  10. Colin

Great balance of stout and chocolate without being overpowering or too sweet. Very smooth and slips down rather easily… of my favourite chocolate stouts.

  11. Peter

this is a glorious stout, will definitely buy again

  12. Keith M

My favourite Chocolate stout of all. Smooth, rich and velvety and you can really taste the chocolate.Very moreish and an ideal beer for the stout drinker.

  13. Ian Wilson

Not quite my favourite, but close. I like my stout sweet

  14. Jonathan Giles

Very well done, balanced subtle flavours.

  15. Neil Ward

This beer was surprisingly chocolatey in smell and taste, but yet not too sweet. I definitely recommend and will be buying again!

  16. Chris H

I liked this so much. The chocolatey nose was only surpassed by the immense chocolatey taste.

  17. ISC

Strong chocolate aroma and even more intense taste. An ideal dessert beer although it is not oversweet. Very glad I bought more than one bottle! The brewery also has an excellent Imperial and oatmeal stout.

  18. Colin A

Nice and chocolatey! i’m not a huge stout drinker as a lot of them are too coffee tasting for me, but this one was mainly chocolatey tasting, but it wasn’t overpowering or sickly sweet, so was perfect. nice and smooth and rich flavour. will buy again.

  19. Ryan Powell

Very impressed with this! Normally go for the Imperial Stout, which I Love! I find chocolate stouts too sickly, but this was a revelation! Not too sweat and a taste of real quality chocolate!

  20. Saul Abbott

A very delicious, chocolate stout from a brewer you can trust. The strong notes of dark chocolate meant that it wasn’t as sweet as some chocolate stouts and it had a nice balance of sweetness to richness. It isn’t as heavy as i feel it could have been as it lacked a little body but it’s a very easy drinker, perhaps because of it. I’ll definitely buy it again.

  21. Hadders

One of the best chocolate-tasting stouts I’ve found. Most just waft a hint but this doesn’t disappoint with a great full-bodied taste experience. Love the stuff!!

  22. Mark Allison

Wonderful chocolate flavour and very smooth a must for anyone to try.

  23. Paul Craycraft

A rich, chocolatey flavour, basically dessert in a bottle! Very fond of most of Samuel Smiths, and I love this one…

  24. Alan Sinclair

Too sweet for my taste. Very strong chocolate taste. OK for just the one but I couldn’t drink too many of them

  25. Neil Lynch

very smooth easy drinking bottle of beer. good one to use to introduce a drinker to the world of stouts

  26. Steve Vincent

A very special beer and at a good price, especially considering the large bottle. Quickly and safely delivered.

  27. Kevan Spencer

One of the better chocolate stouts

  28. Dave Thornley

Probably the best chocolate beer around. Very smooth and so tasty.
