Ridgeway Imperial Barley Wine is a barley wine from Oxfordshire’s Ridgeway Brewery. The brewery is named after the historic Oxfordshire trade route, The Ridgeway, on which the brewery is sited. Ridgeway Imperial Barley Wine is a strong barley wine at 10% ABV, with more hop character and bitterness than expected from this style.
Pouring a clear deep amber colour, Ridgeway Imperial Barley Wine offers up aromas of honey and orange liqueur. The flavour is fruity, with apricot and raisin notes, drawing to a bitter finish designed to diminish as the beer ages. Woof! Amazing stuff. Boozy, rich, immense flavours but dangerously drinkable. Think a classic English beer but with everything turned up to 11. Mine was 2015 vintage so may have mellowed out! You’ve got to try this.

Wonderful beer, one of my favorites, full of pine, liquorice and spicy aromatic tones !

I got two bottles of this as I needed barley wine for a Christmas pudding recipe. I drank the remaining beer and really enjoyed it. Sure, it’s “rocket fuel”, but it’s really nice too. I’m now going to enjoy the second bottle!
