Michelin Star Chef Galton Blackiston created Galton’s No.1 Lager with the Norfolk Brewhouse. Crafted not just to celebrate local ingredients but also to the Norfolk growers and maltsters behind them. An added twist – well chefs will be chefs! – the malt combination used in this beer is also used to create No.1 malted ice cream. They provide a rich malt flavour and a soft sweetness from the natural sugars found within Norfolk malt.
This lager is light, refreshing and crisp it perfectly complements the seafood enjoyed at No.1 Cromer and is also great with spicy food and white meats.
Matthew W –
Clear gold/light amber, small white fairly fizzy head but leaves a scattering on top.
Aroma is sweet, grainy malts, quite fruity for a lager.
Taste is malty, hint of caramel, big metallic note, lemon, nice fruity tang, moderate bitterness.
Light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation.
Good for a pale lager but that metallic note is frustrating.
