Elgoods is a family owned brewery housed in the North Brink Brewery in the heart of the fens. The Brewery was established in 1795 and was one of the first classic Georgian breweries to be built outside of London.
Elgoods Coolshop Mango is a unique English style sour beer. Bright golden in colour, Elgoods original Coolship Ale has been blended with mango for a tropical touch. The tropical fruit flavours are offset by the smooth sourness of the Coolship Ale, resulting in a refreshing and satisfying beer.

Pours clear, light amber, with a ruby hue and a two finger, white head. Aroma is mango and caramel. Taste is at first honey, moving to a strong mango and sour flavor. Finish is strong mango. If you like mango, you’ll love this beer.

This is obviously not the standard ‘beer’ taste. I hated my first taste of it but it grew on me. Definite similarities with the Elgoods sour ale, with a mango tinge. It is like a very sour alcoholic cordial. Definitely one to sip. Certainly worth a tipple if you are on a beer discovery. 4.25/5

Tasted a little sweet for my liking. Could taste the mango. Different tasting beer compared to your average beer.

I bought this as part of a new wave of trying different beers (and I like other mango beers) – but I’d struggle to go above 2/5 stars. The beer did what it said in that it was a sour mango, not much head on it after a the pour, if someone had told me that this was a cider then I would have believed them.
