Veltins Pilsner is a bottom fermented pilsner that appears bright gold in colour. It has an aroma of citrus, herbs and nuts on the nose and a dry, perfectly bodied taste on the tongue. It uses spring water from the mountain it is situated at the base of to create a beverage of utmost refreshment.
Brauerei C & A Veltins opened its door in 1852, bought by Clemens Veltins, having taken over the Franz Kramer brewery. It was named after Clemens twin sons, Carl and Anton, who would go on to succeed Clemens and become the owners of the brewery in 1893. It is still in Veltins hands today, with Susanne Veltins taking over the brewery in 1994. Over the years the name has gained a big reputation and is now on the front of the stadium for Bundesliga team FC Schalke 04.
One of my favourite pilsners –
My local sells this on draft, but I also order from beers of Europe and have tasted this in Germany on several occasions. A really light citrus flavour with a hint of nut, it is slightly tangy but I like that taste. I probably buy this beer more than any other. Highly recommend.
Maximilian Evans –
A great tasting pilsener with a well deserved good reputation. Would recommend to anyone looking to buy a German pilsener.
Andy Nichols –
Nice classic tasting pilsener. You certainly wouldn’t be disappointed to be drinking it. There is however nicer tasting more balanced pilseners out there in my opinion.
Steven Allen –
Malty with a hint of bubblegum flavour, dry white wine after taste, would appeal to the Heineken drinker but not as acidic , as the lattet!
Chris –
Couldn’t get a taste for it, unbalanced taste for my liking. Too much going on, couldn’t taste any citrus or nut notes.
Laura Scotland –
Crisp and refreshing
Mike London –
A real go to. Not overly complex but lovely when well chilled. Yes none of the exotic hop taste that seems to be all the rage at the moment. Just a classic crisp dry classic volume pilsener.
Derek B –

Excellent company, selling excellent and difficult products to buy in U.K.
They never let you down, even when the product you want is out of stock they manage to get it to you as soon as possible. We have dealt with them for some years now and won’t change. A big THANKS to ‘Beers of Europe’.
Veltins is a delicious Pilsner which we first learned of in Ratingen and have continued to enjoy ever since.

My favourite German beer. I’ve only ever seen it sold in the UK once on drought, in Plymouth and in shops once, in Aldi or Lidl, I forget which. Brilliant that BoE sell it!
A very crisp beer, easy to drink and refreshing, with a clean taste. Ausgezeichnet!

Sometimes, and only sometimes you may find this fine beer on tap in the UK. Highly refreshing, light on it’s feet with a lovely taste. One of the best German lagers.

Mark Woodward –
A good pilsner, a reliably smooth beer. I have consumed a few bottles of this on Rhine river cruises as it was the ‘standard’ beer on the boats.
