Schöfferhofer Kristallweizen is a wheat beer from German brewery, Schöfferhofer. German wheat beers tend to be unfiltered and hazy – Kristallweizen is filtered, creating a crystal-clear wheat beer.
Pouring a shining golden colour, Schöfferhofer Kristallweizen offers up aromas of biscuit malt, honey, ripe banana and a hint of cloves. The flavour is crisp and clean, with fruity banana bread and cereal grain notes. A refreshing, clean wheat beer, buy Schöfferhofer Kristallweizen to enjoy the full flavour of a German wheat beer, with a shiningly clear appearance.

As clean and clear a brew as the name suggests. Rather thirst-quenching and quite crisp. Mellow wheatiness as compared to a normal weiss.

I must say that I am enjoying my first taste of this kristallweizen which pours with a creamy head which holds better than many wheats. It has a very light, clear look to it and the first aroma I got was a mixture of banana and clove. This is not as citrusy as some but has a very delicate palate to it with a malty, yeasty after-taste. At the price, this is definitely worth a punt and is one I would certainly buy again. Give it a go.

Kristalweizen always strikes me as a slightly confused style of beer. Very similar to a Hefeweizen but the flavours are more subtle. This however is a nice example of the style with honeyish flavours.

Quite fizzy for a weizen. The sweet banana tastes are there with a dry tang.

A pleasant, easy drinking beer, but to me not quite as good as the Weihenstephaner kristalweizen (might be because I prefer the citrus taste in that one)

I used to drink this in the 90’s so thought I’d get some more. It has a nice taste but doesn’t have the quality of Weihenstephaner kristalweizen. However it is slightly cheaper so you get more for your money.

This is a nice clean and crisp wheat beer that has interesting flavours. Very to drink and highly recommended.

Slightly malty with a crisp finish, great taste

Personally I think this is the best Kristallweizen on the market. It’s not a full bodied as the cloudy version but is very refreshing and a good mix between a wheaty and a helles.

A golden kristallweizen with white head. Aroma is malty, yeasty, fresh fruity. Taste is light bitter sweet.

Brilliant white foaming head on a well carbonated clear pale amber coloured body.
Cigarette, grain & ashtray aroma.
Medium bodied, foamy sharp & clean with a dry back.
Grain, cereal, dry crackers & wheat tastes with mildly fruity backbone.
Standard.

A slightly subtler Kristallweizen. Pours as clear as the name suggests with a rich pale head. A delicate but notably fruity aroma gives a clear indication of what to expect on the palate. Good quality wheat beer with all those sharp edges filed off. Would I drink it as a session beer? Probably not because it’s just slightly too sweet for me, but that’s a purely personal preference, if you like the sweeter end of the scale this is probably just what you’re looking for.

Clear gold with medium white foamy head but does fade. Aroma of grains, dust, banana. Taste is grainy and dry, some yeasty banana and very light spice and a decent long bitter note. However it is a quite tinny rather than clean and I found that distracting despite a filtering element being part of the style.

Smokey taste, very nice flavour.
Alexey Nekhaenko –
Clear and crisp, exactly what you want from a German beer
