Hofbräu Dunkel is a smooth, refreshing German lager, with a deep brown colour traditional of the Dunkel style. Pouring a rich chestnut colour, this Munich Dunkel offers up a floral nose with hints of chocolate and caramel. The roasted malts used in the brewing process give rise to nutty, cocoa flavours and a sweet malt finish. Hofbräu Dunkel is low in bitterness, and the caramel sweetness pairs perfectly with roasted meat dishes. At 5.5% ABV, it’s also perfect to sip and unwind at the end of a long day.
Hofbräu München Brewery has been brewing Bavarian beers for over 400 years, and this traditional Dunkel is still brewed just outside Munich today. Buy Hofbräu Dunkel for a traditional Bavarian Lager with a crisp yet rich flavour.

Got a good mixed selection of this German Hells Dunkel style of beer, from BOE, and in my opinion they were all very good quality. It was very hard to choose between them but this one made the argument to be top three. Personal preference of course, I find the Hells Dunkel to be superior to the standard Hells.

This is the best dunkel I’ve tried so far. It is much more like what I envisaged a dunkel lager to be. No dark fruit flavours. Just maltiness, some sweetness and a yeasty taste.

This is slightly better than your average beer but definitely not one of Munich’s finest. It is a little bland for a German beer but pleasant nonetheless.

A really good dunkel – slightly unique in the same way that a Hofbrau Original is different to must other brews. A great pour and balance of fizz, decent head and a not overly dark colour. A nice blend of sweet and sour in the taste, whilst very easy drinking.

A beautiful dark amber colour with an off white that lasts as you work your way to the end.
Would buy again without any doubt. Fantastic on the tongue,, great after taste, leaving you wanting more!!

This is a really good and tasty brown ale it should be on prescription. That way for me it would be free 😉

Dunkels aren’t really my thing, but I gave it a shot. I consider the other Hofbraus among my favorites. I just prefer wheat beers I think.
