Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.

Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.

We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.

Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.

We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.

We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.

Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.

If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.

Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.

Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Please check the tracking first, as they may provide an explanation but we welcome the opportunity to nip issues in the bud. Either call us on 01553 812000 or email our [email protected] to hear from our customer service team. Check out delivery details for more information.

If you have changed your mind for whatever reason, you can consult our returns information, or get in contact on 01553 812000.

  1. Richard East

I just ordered and tried this beer for the first time and I am absolutely in love. It is quite hoppy and very dry taste but such a wonderful taste on the palate. Not much aroma to this beer but I definitely will be ordering it again.

  2. Adam Lister

A firm favourite for those stationed in Herford, Germany. A good example of a Pils, well balanced hops and a good amount of carbonation make this beer a winner in my eyes.

  3. Peter Bird

Very nice drink goes down smoothly very tasty , use to drink it in Germany

  4. Steven Allen

This is a quality pilsner, a hoppy start with a malty after taste, which somewhat reverses the standard German trend! There’s not much that is unique about this beer but it’s just oozes quality!

  5. Aidan Turton

Quality beer, great taste, not gassy, very refreshing. Going to order some more.

  6. Derek B

Fabulous dry crisp pils and is exceptionally good when served extra cold. Hard to beat!

  7. David Collison

I have found Herforder pils very hard to locate in the Uk. My order was dispatched promptly and well packaged I will definitely be ordering again.

  8. Laura Scotland

Beautiful crisp pilsner. A new favourite. Extra cold the better

  9. DW

An excellent pils. Served Ice cold it’s outstanding.

  11. Ian Leeds

A very crisp lively pilsner! Highly recommended.

  12. Richard Davison

I hadn’t tasted this since my BAOR days, it didn’t disappoint. Nice and crisp and easy on the palette. Will definitely be buying more and sample some others in future..

  13. Christopher Duffill

Ordered and delivered , love this beer , I was in 7th Sigs back in the early 70’s and the beer tastes just as I remembered it , and I reorder when down to my last bottle , away we go super

  14. Andy Nichols

Quality Pilsener! Lovely taste! Would be in the top of my pilsener list.

  15. Paul Harrison

A real blast from the past. Was it as good as I remember ? WOW !!!
A real treat, a real pleasure.
Light in colour with real depth of flavour, very moreish.
As you may of guessed, I would highly recommend this Pilsner.
    Excellent service too.

  16. Dean Griffiths

Had not heard of this one before so thought I order a bottle give it a try.

It was well worth it. Golden in colour with a dry slightly bitter after taste but very smooth and moorish very nice indeed.

  17. The Doc- Aberdeen

Nice smooth and full bodied pilsner , popular with our army lads and lassies stationed in Germany, ideal served in a small frosted glass , Super service as always from beers of europe . thanks

  18. Greg Tyler

Great beer, brings back memories of my days in the army in Herford. And great service from beers of Europe.

  19. Angela Spacey

I bought these beers as a present for my son, my dad was a soldier and served in Herford in Germany it was his favourite beer, also my dad met my mum whilst serving there, I wanted my son to enjoy the beers his grandad used to, and he loved them, his words were fantastic

  20. Malcolm Charlaw

First time in Germany on a school exchange in the 80’s and introduced to this wonderful bier. Ordering this from Beers of Europe which arrived promptly. That first taste brought back many memories with its unmistakable taste and freshness when nicely chilled. Osnabruck was just down the road from penpals home and loved the draught version of it as well. Quality!!

  21. Chris

Dry, crisp and hoppy! Little bitterness, different from other German Pilsners, can’t say much more apart from tasting lovely!

  22. James Russell

Not complex, but very refreshing, with a clean flavour. A perfect chilled beer for a hot summer’s day.

  23. Barry Beddington

46 yrs just melted away with the first sip! Hammersmith Barracks 4 Regt Army Air Corps shared at the time with the ‘Scalybacks’ [7th Signal Regt]. Copious amounts of this nectar drunk & delighted to find it available online. Delivered promptl y in solid packaging. The only thing to make it better would have been a portion of ‘bratwurst mit fritten’ [sausage & chips]! Excellent!

  24. Craig Cannell

The days of rushing to the garage on a Sunday, for a yellow handbag are long gone. The crisp flavour of Herforder remains. A flash back to 80s Gütersloh is never a bad thing. A taste sensation.

  25. Paul C

    First time for this Pilsner.
Everyone has given it 5 stars ; and l will too !!
    Beautifully sharp.crisp and golden coloured.
Very hoppy and very dry – leaves a unique bitter aftertaste.
    The colder the better.
    Wish I had ordered more.

  26. Craig Ryan

Classic German pils. Very pale. Crisp, bitterness with subtle hops. Very balanced with great finesse. Served cool, it still has a pleasant bitter finish. V good!

  27. James Currie

Delighted with my order, received very quickly. Ive been trying to get this beer for years since i left Germany over 20 years ago then came across this company by chance, will definitely order from again, many thanks Jamie

  28. Marc Ingram

In my opinion the best beer I’ve ever had and could ever recommend with 5 stars!!!!!. Not at all gassy like commercial beers. It has an extremely rich and smooth hoppy flavour unlike anything you’ve ever tasted and leaves you with what I can only describe as an incredible aftertaste – leaving you wanting to enjoy even more. For a relatively small and if not old local brewery in Herford (btw you can’t buy this in the north or south of Germany) it was a complete and utter surprise to find it available here in the UK – Thank you brining it to us!! For many, many years I’ve normally brought back 2-3 Herforder crates from Lemgo but now no need – although I probably still will…. wink-wink!!

  29. Gary Driscoll

Having served in Germany with the British Army in the 80’s, I was very familiar with the taste of Herforder Pils. So it had been over 30 years since my last taste! But thanks to Beers of Europe I ordered a box of 20 bottles and was very impressed with the speedy delivery. What fabulous memories I had of my days in Germany when I took my first sip after all those years!
I have since finished my first box and have already ordered my second. I’m looking forward to inviting some of my ex army friends over, to reminisce the good old times with a lovely glass of Herforder Pils. On that note, I must order another box of 20.

  30. Christine Saunders

nice smooth easy drinking beer, leaves a small after taste ?

  31. Robin Walker

One of my all time favourites, smooth and easy going and always enjoyed by anyone I have offered a bottle.

The only thing that would beat it for a North Rhine Pils would have to be a bottle of Barre, but as we can’t get that in the UK (at the moment), its a hands down winner.

  32. Vincent Hughes

I have to admit, this was not as singly fantastic as I remember it from the 80’s. I happened to order Paderborner recently too, and preferred the Paderborn. Herforder is a light coloured pils with a nice crisp taste, perhaps a slightly bitter aspect to it. Definitely more than acceptable when choosing this style of beer.

  33. Terry Downing

My second order. The taste is as I remember as a young soldier servicing in BAOR.
Pity it’s not on an Orange Herfie Handbag.
Would love to buy a couple of HerForder glasses. Will defiantly be buying more .

  34. Maximilian Evans

    Good all round pils.

  35. JimPetrie

Having drunk this beers years ago in Germany had forgotten just how tasty and refreshing it is when really cold … great beer

  36. Paul Boniface

Another absolute monster. Beautifully crafted, excellent tasting and very highly recommended. I will certainly be ordering more.

  37. Jackie Smith

Hubby loved it, memories of our time in Germany. Shame not in the orange handbags but will be buying more.

  38. Alan Hastings

I had never tried this before but all the 5 star reviews drove me to sample and I was not disappointed stunning tipple and will be definitely trying again

  39. Sebastian

Great German pilsner beer with refreshing taste. Will order again.

  40. Steven Palmer

A really nice beer. Clean taste and traditional pilsner taste. Well worth trying if you are a fan of proper German beers

  41. Michael Knight

I found this to be a soft tasting beer which is easy on the tongue. Really pleasent to drink and very refreshing. If you are trying different beers please give this a try. It’s really good for a German beer and now one of my top 5.

  42. iain rose

Served in Herford many moons ago whilst in the army, brings back many happy memories either sat in the local bar or in the back of the armoured vehicle on exercise. Lost count how many orders I have placed 🙂

  43. Roddy Spiers

Fabulous German beer, brings back great memories when I served in the forces .
    Back being my favourite beer

  44. Robin White

Pure nectar… Brought back memories of my time in Herford and visiting the brewery….

  45. Geraint Griffith

Quite a smooth beer decent taste

  46. Andy Chittenden

It’s been a long time since I’ve had this beer, and it tastes better than I remember, especially when I used to drink copious amounts of the stuff in the Army during the 80s .
It’s smooth , not too gassy and has a mild hoppy taste , very easy to drink lots of.

  47. Denise Foggin

This is a favourite in our house and would recommend it.

  48. David Heath

Definitely a favourite with my wife and I. We both served in the Army in Germany. Hence why this is our favourite beer. But then we like most German beers but Herfy is the best.

  49. Andrew Townley

Excellent service once again and the beer is the fantastic
Takes me back to my time in Bielefeld, West Germany 👀

  50. Andrew Wilson

Very quick service, arrived in 3 days

  51. Tom Wilson

Great beer and great service. The smooth and slightly hoppy taste stirs memories (some hazy) of my time in Germany in the 70’s. Personally I would recommend this beer.

  52. Tony Singleton

A trip down memory lane to my first posting in Herford. Still a nice drop.

  53. Harry Watson

Remember drinking this when I was in the forces and the taste brings back great memories at the time.

  54. john wilkinson

Fast no nonsense transaction well done again

  55. WARWICK FALCONER

Excellent Pilsener, not that strong and very refreshing.

  56. Kris

Tasty easy drinking pilsener from the best country in the world for pilseners

  57. David Davies

Ahhhh memories of Minden, West Germany whilst serving in the forces back in the 70s. A lovely beer and a lot was drank believe me lol.

  58. Janice Johnson

Lovely pilsner, smooth transaction and super fast delivery, I’ll be back for more!

  59. Stan Smith

After ordering my Herforder Pils it took the company only a few days to deliver to me which is fantastic service. On opening the first bottle it transported me back to 1987 when I last tasted that amber nectar, thank you Beers of Europe, if I am ever out that way I will call in.

  60. Steph

Love the fact BoE have this pils, the only place I know you can get it in the UK, always goes down a treat with my dad and brother who both have been based in Herford in the past with the army

  61. Andrew Graham

This used to be my go to drink when stationed in Germany! Now I remember why! I’m going to have to order again soon 🤪

  62. Gordon Morrison

Still as tasty when I drank it in Herford

  63. Andy Gilbert

If you served in BAOR you’d have almost certainly drunk this at some time..Even if this wasn’t your local brew, if you went to a party (of which there were many!) you’d take a couple of ‘Yellow Handbags’ containing bottles of Herfy. Good for bribing/ encouraging people to do stuff for you too! I did wonder if it would live up to the myth and legend after 40 years but I’m happy to report it does, and though I usually drink darker beers, I like to always keep some in. Had a few sessions with an Army mate c/w bratties for the complete nostagic experience! Not always available at Beers of Europe but they let you know when it is and I’ve had several orders now, all delivered promptly and carefully.

  64. Machala Butters

Hubby loves this, so I was pleased I’m able to purchase it for him after leaving Germany in 2013.
Needless to say he was chuffed to bits when a crate of 24 bottles turned up for our 24th wedding anniversary x
Easy to order and quick delivery!
    Top service, thank you!

  65. Jonathan WEBBER

Brought back so many memories of my time in BAOR. Well packaged and great delivery speed. Cannot wait until my next batch arrives

  66. Frederick Hill

Takes me back to Germany in the mid 80’s with the RAF – very good to drink – anytime

  67. P Knight

I purchased Herforder Pils (Herfy as my Dad calls them) for my Dads 70th birthday as a surprise, he was beyond happy with his gift & it took him right back to his army days in Germany, he enjoyed his beer with bratwurst, chips & curry sauce!

Fantastic service, answered my query promptly & delivered quickly…. I will most certainly be purchasing again soon!

Please keep stocked up, it’s so hard to get hold of.

Thank you Beers of Europe 👍🏼

  68. Geraldine Sheehan

This is the second time I have purchased Herforder from Beers of Europe and am very pleased with the service. Each time they have let me know when the pils are in stock and delivery has been swift. A lovely surprise for my husband as he’d not had it since leaving the army in 1988. Brought back lots of memories for him. Will certainly be buying more!!

  69. Michael O'Driscoll

A strong and complex Pils – I loved it.

  70. Tina Osborne-Robertson

A blast from the past. My husband loved it. Well packaged and promptly delivered. Thank you. We’ll order again!

  71. Wilf Scurr

A little bit of heaven at Christmas, what could be better, will take a case when we visit friends in Wales, haven’t seen since we left Germany in 1981.

  72. Tony Hartley

Tried and tested (many times) flavoursome pilsner. Not too gassy.

  73. Ben Gill

I was a guest of the Herforder brewery in the late 80s having won a VIP trip to Herford , Sales competition (off licence manager at the time) we were entertained all week including several trips around the brewery. I remember one of the owners sons who was on leave from the German army with about 19 colleagues all in their 20s have a drinking game in the hospitality area where there was a very long refectory table it was eins zwei drei and down the hatch, one by one they passed out until there was one left victorious. Great memories and fantastic beer then and now!,,

  74. Barrie Taylor

One of my favourites beers. Goes down very well.

  75. Raymond Davis

A pleasnat reminder of our time in Germany. Extra quick delivery in time for Christmas. Excellent service as always

  76. JL

Not too bad if a bit generic. Enjoyed the toned down carbonation but missed the up front hoppy vibe I enjoy from a proper pils and the finish was a bit sweet and quick. Might be better at 4 degrees or less but that’s just a personal take.

  77. Paul Walsh

Lived in Herford for 4 years, in the early 80’s, still love this drink.
Many a yellow handbag was enjoyed.

  78. Philip Stimpson

God the best beer in the world, reminds me of the times in Hereford had a trip once to the brewery wow what a afternoon, carry on selling selling herforder please

  79. martin langmead

Fantastic beer. Reminds me of when I was in Germany in the army. Best German beer there is IMHO. Strong enough to get the job done and full of flavour. Great service from BoE too

  80. MG

Wasn’t really a fan to be honest. Still better than most, just not my favorite German beer

  81. Thelonious9a

Very nice crisp beer. Absolutely typical of the beers of this area. Great stuff. Beers of Europe service excellent as usual.
