In December 1997 Erdinger Weissbrau decided to liven up the cold winter months with a new wheat beer specialty. This first beer specially brewed for the winter season was christened Erdinger Weissbier “snow-white”.
Slightly darker and stronger than classic Erdinger Weissbier “with fine yeast”, our new “snow-white” wheat beer is a welcome change during the cold winter months – the perfect time for a little indulgence!
Erdinger Weissbier “snow-white” uses the first malts from the summer harvest. It’s not until mid October that the wheat beer specialty develops its amber colour and spicy flavour – a result of its long maturing period. “Snow-white” goes particularly well with hearty food – something not uncommon during the Christmas season!
Makes winter taste simply better!

Without doubt the highlight of my festive season is this magnificent brew. ‘Snow white’ is a deeper tasting Weiss compared to the superb ‘standard’ Erdinger. The richer colour is a hint if that. Once you taste though you will know what I mean. My Christmas would not be the same without it. It is a revelation and is, in my view, the best of the Erdinger brewery which is some feat given how superb it is.

This is a nice Erdinger, but to me the taste isn’t that special compared to the ‘standard’ Erdinger

Quite a tame flavour to this one. I’d plump for the Urweisse or Pikantus over this one, although I would drink it again.

My first festive beer.
Had this too cold last year and quite tasteless.
Had it warmer this year and more flavoursome, spicy with a great head and sweet aftertaste.
Enjoyable.

This wheat beer pours with a very good head which holds and offers a spicy, citrusy nose to it. The colour is slightly darker than usual and the first taste gives a malty, almost fruity start which develops into a deeper nutmeg and bitter after taste which is very palatable. Clearly a festive beer, even though my first glass was in early March! I enjoyed this a lot and would definitely have it again. I gave it 4 but it’s more of a 4.5/5.
