Get the party started with Astra Rakete, a fun, zesty Radler from German beer brand Astra. What is a Radler drink? A popular drink in Germany, a Radler is a combination of a light beer or lager, such as a Pilsner, usually mixed with a citrus flavoured soda. Astra Rakete is a fun twist on a traditional Radler, blending Astra beer with citrus vodka, designed to get you in the mood to party.
Is Radler alcoholic? Generally, Radlers are mixed with soda resulting in a lower alcohol content, though they can come in a variety of strengths. Beneath the light, fruity flavour, at 5.9% ABV Astra Rakete is no shrinking violet. Citrus aromas from the vodka mingle with bready notes from the beer to create a refreshing drink that you can enjoy all night long.

Bought it for my youngest son as I wasn’t sure what to expect from this radler as they’re often sour and not normally my thing,. However I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it. A clean, clear, shandy style taste with a hit of citrus from the vodka. You can get caught out by this as it is 5.9% ABV but doesn’t taste that strong. I liked it a lot.

Vodka mixed with beer! A lovely combination! Herb on the nose with red fruit. A nice smell! You get a swift citrus burst when sipped. The finish is herby with a fruit kick.

This has more of an alcopop feel than a beer, but lacks the artificial flavours. The overwhelming taste is of lemon and ginger, there’s no doubt it is a hugely enjoyable beverage, I would definitely recommend this but don’t expect the usual beer taste!

Radler with a kick! Quite light on the lager/beer taste but enough there to keep it going. Not as sweet as cheap alcopops and a nice novelty, ideal for a change of pace. Astra is the hallmark of Hamburg and this is a nice addition to the family.
David Gouldson –
Citrusy and quite fruity. Reasonable beer.

Pours a clear amber with small white head, little retention.
Aroma is sweet lemonade with a basic lager background. Not picking up much in the way of hops.
Taste of lager, lemon and lime squash and vodka. Its sweet, smooth adjunct mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, boozy warmth on the way down. An almost sickly concoction but thankfully there is just enough beer elements to make it drinkable. Flavours are not balanced though.

Quite heavy for a radler, and you feel it. Not your usual low alcohol option which you expect a radler to be. Similar to alcopops, drinkable but I wouldn’t come back for more probably
JOHN MAY –
Not for me. Tasted more like an alcopop than a beer.

A Radner with citrus vodka. Sweet lemon flavours. Inoffensive if not spectacular
David Beckham –
Absolutely easy to drink.
Goes down faster than alcopops.
