Timmermans Oude Kriek 375ml is an aged fruit lambic beer from Timmerman’s brewery in Itterbeek, Belgium. Timmermans is Belgium’s oldest lambic brewery, dating back to 1702, and is known locally as ‘The Mole Brewery’. Timmermans Oude Kriek is an aged kriek, brewed with whole Schaerbeek cherries and a blend of young and aged lambics. The beer can be drunk straight away or aged for up to 12 years to allow the flavours to develop and mature.
Timmermans Oude Kriek pours a deep ruby colour, with fruity cherry aromas and lambic tang rising from the beer. The flavour is naturally bitter from the whole cherries in the brew, with an acidic quality. Buy Timmermans Oude Kriek 375ml to explore a traditional Oude Kriek beer from Belgium’s oldest lambic brewery.

Wow – this is full of tart cherry and almond flavour, but be prepared for a full monty sourness. Unless you are really into sour beers, this will last you the evening! I wonder if this is a typical sample – if I was blending the beer, I’d have aimed at something not so challenging. I suspect this will mellow with age (best before 2034!) so I’ll stick my second bottle at the back of the cupboard …

Incredibly tart cherries offset by softer almond flavours. Great lambic.
