Rodenbach Alexander is a mixed fermentation beer. Two thirds has been matured in oak casks for 24 months and one third is young and has been subjected to maceration with sour cherries.
Rodenbach Alexander was first brewed in 1986, on the occasion of Alexander Rodenbach’s 200th birthday and is now back by popular demand. It is an extraordinary beer with a unique, balanced palate, complex finish and subtle fruit and wood notes. The aftertaste is reminiscent of a burgundy wine and its freshness makes this beer the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to cheeses or dessert.

Sweet, tangy, rich. A near as dammit perfect cherry sour beer. Not nearly as tart as the caractere rouge, much easier to drink. Worth it.

A must try for fans of Flanders red ales. Tart Cherry, with creamy lactose vanilla notes and a slight oakey finish.

Looks like a light red wine in my glass with a short lived pinkish head My nose finds cherry oak cider vinegar some funk The taste is of tart lemons sour fruit with a woody background there is more sweetness than the classic from the extra cherries. A great after dinner tipple
