Contreras Valeir Extra is an IPA from Belgian brewery Contreras. The Contreras brewery has been based in the town of Gavere, just south of Ghent since 1818. Brewing was originally a side project on the Contreras farm, but soon became the main focus for the family as their beer sales took off.
Contreras Valeir Extra is bottle conditioned and generously hopped with Sterling and Amarillo hops. Pouring a warm golden colour, floral and spicy aromas rise from the beer. The flavour is full-bodied, with plenty of hop bitterness as expected from an IPA. Buy Contreras Valeir Extra for a well-balanced IPA from a Belgian family brewer.

Belgian take on IPA so probably not a shock that it leans more towards sweetness than the traditional English brew. Invites contemplation rather than just being a thirst quencher. Nice amount of fresh zingy hops and a good level of bitterness.
Richard Bradley –
normally a big fan of Belgian beer and IPAs, but the strong bitter aftertaste put me off this one

Absolutely delicious IPA – full of complexity and finesse with a lingering hop finish. I wish UK brewers would make beers more like this, rather than giving us endless versions of a “hazy IPA” that tastes like fruit juice! Valeir Extra is a really well balanced brew with contribution from the yeast and malts too..

Pours Brassy gold fair head My nose enjoys honey apricots and citrus The flavours include lemongrass, dry peppery straw, caramel apple finish. The extra added hops are not prominent in this beer which for me is just a little too sweet

Rather nice. Not in the top rank of blondes but very enjoyable. Quite a complex brew.
Mike –
Hazy with a big, fluffy white head. Smooth and a touch bretty.
