Hohenthanner Tannen Dunkel is a Dunkel from German brewery, Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei in the Bavarian region of southern Germany. Formed in 1864, Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei is still proudly independent and uses ingredients from the local area to brew their traditional German beer styles. Hohenthanner Tannen Dunkel is a dark lager, or Dunkel, with a sweet, roasted flavour.
Pouring a dark amber colour, Hohenthanner Tannen Dunkel offers up aromas of caramel, roasted malts and berries. The flavour is lightly sweet, with a subtle bitterness. Buy Hohenthanner Tannen Dunkel for the perfect accompaniment to your next barbeque, the sweet, roasted flavours perfectly complementing charred meat.

It’s a red-brown colour with a creamy head and the aroma has notes of malt, caramel and a touch of berries. It’s moderately sweet flavor has notes of roasted malt, caramel, light fruit and the finish is slightly dry.

Quite pale for a Dunkel, more of a chestnutty red-brown colour. A decent creamy head. First impression is of subtle flavours and this carries on throughout. In many ways not typical of the Dunkel style, more of a “Dark(er) lager” than many others. But nonetheless quite enjoyable.

A hazy dark amber colour, exuding aromas of caramel, roasted malts and berries. The palate gentle, slightly sweet, with a pleasing bitterness. One I would happily buy again.

My bottle of this Dunkel states that it is a Kellerbier Dunkel, at 5.7 %..
Don’t know what has happened but I ordered the Dunkel. However, it is excellent nevertheless..
Rich, smooth, with hints of chocolate.

Excellent dunkel and exactly as described, it’s not overly malty and has a reasonable amount of sweetness. Pours a cloudy amber with a nice smooth head and looks very inviting indeed.

A very solid dunkel that delivers on the malty depth of flavour you want

Lovely dark beer with a subtle toasted grain flavour and a long finish. One of the best Dunkels I’ve tried.

An excellent dunkel well worth your consideration.

Smooth clean tasting beer. Pours with a good head but is not too effervescent. Malt/hop balance is slightly tilted towards the malt side.
