A fascinating rum from the highly respected Plantation rum company.
Produced on the island of Réunion, a French overseas department found in the Indian ocean! Not produced in the Caribbean or South America as so many are. The perfect location for growing sugar cane, Réunion is known for its warm climate. This rum is made in the traditional Agricole style – the cane is pressed of its juice, which is then fermented and distilled to create a fragrant, fruity rum.
Plantation La Réunion 12 Year Old Rye Finish has been aged for around 11 years in former Bourbon casks before finishing period in former Rye whiskey barrels. Classic Agricole flavours of pressed flowers, sweet cane and citrus, alongside vanilla, tobacco, coconut, banana, toffee, and oak, and touches of menthol, fresh herbs, cinnamon and cloves, the result is an incredibly spicy and powerful rum! A truly fascinating rum, and another superb addition to the Plantation single cask range.
