Elgoods is a family owned brewery housed in the North Brink Brewery in the heart of the fens. The Brewery was established in 1795 and was one of the first classic Georgian breweries to be built outside of London.
Elgoods Coolship is a true English sour ale. A long period of fermentation and maturation in special tanks enables naturally occurring wild yeasts, combined with oak, to create a sharp and fruity flavour.

This is truly a very sour beer. On first tasting, it really didn’t tickle me fancy but it does get better. The dominant tastes are sour apple and vinegar. Only one pint at a time for me! 3.25/5

I really like this – easily stands up to the Belgian Geuze style ales for quality. Nice sour and fruity taste with a really funky aroma and aftertaste that I really love!

One of the few English sour beers and, in my opinion, on a par with the best Belgian sours..
A bit pricey but well worth trying.

Pours a clear dark amber, small off-white head
Aroma of malts and sour funky fruit including apples and citrus.
Taste of moderately sweet and sour fruits, yeast, caramel. Medium bodied.
Quite a malty sour beer but it works, there is a nice balance to this.
