Beavertown began its journey in 2011, founded by Logan Plant, son of Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, as a homebrew project that has become one of London’s finest craft breweries. In that time they have grown exponentially producing big tasting beers in cans with an easily recognisable design. Famous for a core range including Gamma Ray and Neck Oil as well as having a wide range of experimental brews, they continue to push the boundaries of the beer industry.

Black Betty is somewhat of a contradiction. A black IPA, the inspiration of which came from the ‘Black Jacks and Fruit Salad’ sweets. Beavertown wanted a big IPA laced with undertones of slight roast and aniseed blended with the huge tropical aromas of Pacific West coast hops. The roast undertones were gained from the German Carafa malts, as well as the dark colour of this black IPA.

Pours dark amber in colour with a complex and fruity aroma and a heavy hoppiness which is balanced with roasted coffee and chocolate tones. This complexity follows through to the flavour making a highly enjoyable and well balanced black IPA.
