The World’s oldest dark beer, It has been brewed for almost 150 years without interruption. A true experience of flavour.
Full bodied, with fine malt aromas, slightly bitter with some sweetness, creamy and with the warm colours of amber; intensive flavour and fragrance. Brewed in the traditional monastic manner, it is one of the great beers.

This is the best German dunkel style beer I’ve tried so far. It is very malty and has a pleasant bitterness to it. As it warmed, some sweetness came through. It does not have the overt dark fruit plum flavour of other dunkels.

Rather bitter, though mostly malty. Combination chocolaty, roasty, cocoa character. Rather thin body, moderate carbonation. Okay.
Daniel Saalfeld –
A very good dunkel -nice balance between sweet and bitter. Cocoa, prune, raisin, bread, gentle lager hops. Light bodied and refreshing, even with the malt thing going on- lowish abv for a German beer so almost sessionable.
Marcus Wellings –
Top quality drink great tasting dunkel
Nice taste of malt but not over powering
Reminds me of my times in Germany
Will buy again
Gareth Roberts –
Very malty with an easy pouring creamy head.

A good quality Dunkel, very much typical of the style. Long-lasting creamy head. A strong malty smell promises strong powerful flavours but doesn’t quite deliver. That said, still very enjoyable and a great session beer. A little more body and a slightly higher alcohol content would make this perfect.

Wonderful body, malty aroma, sweet with bitter end, creamy head off white, lightly mocha in colour. Fantastic bright dark amber colour, a beer I would definately have again, paired with lamb, beef…….enjoy.
MARK BAINTON –
sweetened malt giving a dryness of woodland vegetation taste. full bodied dark and smooth very enjoyable.

Nice malty flavour with a pleasant bitter finish. But not quite sweet enough for me
Paul Boniface –
Very malty taste with a distinctive aftertaste which reminded me of chocolate for some reason.
Kris –
A tasty dunkel – lots of malty flavours coming through but a bit lighter than other beers in the style
Chris Meechan –
Lovely dark wheat beer with roasted malty toffee flavours. Incredibly tasty
Russell Castley-Adams –
Malty, full-bodied, with hints of chocolate. The best Dunkel I have tried so far.
Bernard Hawcroft –
I found this very satisfying indeed. It is full bodied but at the same time refreshing’. A superb beer.
