An untypical, dark wheat beer from the famous Kaltenberg Castle Brewery. Very malty in taste, with a bitter-sweet finish, but surprisingly light on the tongue. This beer would go well with sauerkraut and frankfurters – but go easy on the mustard.

Yes, there are age restrictions in place. In the United Kingdom, the legal age to purchase alcohol is 18 years old. Beers of Europe strictly adheres to these regulations and by agreeing to our Terms and Conditions on checkout you confirm that you are over 18 years old. In store, we operate a Challenge 25 policy, which means that if you appear to be under 25 years old, you will be asked for identification to verify your age.

For some products supply can be inconsistent, whether that is at the brewery itself or how often we or its supplier imports it. For products that are out of stock, you can sign up to be notified of its return on the product page. From there, as soon as we book the stock in we send an email to you.
Bottles and labels can and do vary. This means that the images shown on our website may not be the same as current stock items. If the bottle or label is important please check before ordering. Please be aware that even if the label looks different, that product will be the same product if it has the same barcode. Because we work from the barcode, if producers does not make us aware of a label change we often miss updates until we are contacted about it. Apologies in advance for this.
Please note that it isn’t always possible to provide a perfect looking bottle/label as this very much depends on the condition they are received in from our supplier.
We occasionally have items available in the shop that are not available to purchase online, usually because they are too fragile or large to post.
We do not have a minimum purchase amount, but delivery charges may apply.
For orders between £25.01 and £60, delivery is charged at £5.99 (3 working days) or £7.99 (next working day). Some areas are excluded and will incur extra charges. Please see postcodes listed in our Terms and Conditions.

Customers can amend their orders as long as the order has not been picked and packed ready for despatch. If you wish to make an amendment please call us as soon as possible on 01553 812000.

We use a variety of thick and sturdy cardboard boxes and dividers to hold each bottle individually. Any remaining spaces are filled with biodegradable air bags to stop movement of the contents. Glasses are wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard to ensure they arrived in once piece.
When placing your order please add the details at checkout. We regret that if your order has been packed and is ready to despatch that amendments cannot be made.
All of our orders are shipped without any pricing or payment details, these are in the confirmation email. The only paperwork in the box contains a summary of the order and addresses.
On checkout you can add a message to your order.
Unfortunately we do not offer gift packaging.
We currently use DHL, but we do also trial other couriers alongside from time to time.
We don’t currently ship outside the UK and Ireland but it may be something we offer in the future.
Unfortunately our carriers do not offer a time specific delivery service. We can send orders to arrive on a specific date but we would remind you that whilst 98% of deliveries arrive within the stated timeframe we cannot 100% guarantee the day. Couriers do often offer delivery windows on the day, with the option to rearrange if necessary.
If you are ordering as a gift we would ask you to take this into account when arranging delivery.
Please note that we are unable to offer weekend deliveries.
Our boxes come in 6s, 12s, and 24s. By no means are you required to order in those quantities, but it is worth bearing in mind when ordering. A full box also helps to reduce the small chance of damage, as empty compartments collapsing can be a cause of this.

Though none of the flavours are overbearing, this is a very well balanced dunkelweizen. Nice sweet banana, malt, earthy and tangy flavours. Like most weizens, the head expands.

A very smooth Dunkelweizen. Pine on the nose. Bold but smooth tasting. Lighter than many Wheat beers.

I liked this a lot, a bit different from the typical wheat beer. A toasted bread and roasted hazelnut flavour with a dry coffee finish. There’s plenty going on with this one, complex flavour! Without doubt, the best wheat beer I’ve tasted.

This is a very satisfying Dunkel with initial aromas of malt, nut and sweet spice coming through. Less of the banana to this one but an excellent, dark colour to it. It has a decent head, too and on first tasting you get the roasty flavour of the malt and yeast mixed in with a surprising bitter yet also sweet after taste. Very quaffable and at a reasonable price, this is the second wheat in the Konig Ludwig range I have enjoyed and it is excellent. A definite five-star beer this and one I will buy again!

Very enjoyable, but a lighter taste than usual for this type of beer. Subtle sweetness and malty flavours. A lighter colour than many Dunkel beers, holds a good head.

Pours clear dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts. Flavor is sweet roasted malts with some hops. Very decent drink.

Quite light for a dunkel – in look and taste it is just the darker side of a hefeweizen. Pours with an amazingly foamy head, but not overly fizzy when drinking, so goes down easily. Pairs well with food, not being so full bodied as many dunkels are

A very pleasant Weissbeer Dunkel.
Holding a very creamy head, initial aromas are roasted malt and gentle spices.
Hints of coffee,hops but predominantly malty tastes,it leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste which I prefer.

Pours a light hazy amber colour, great off white head which lasts, smells amazing, usual aromatic of a weiss beer. But the taste and texture in the mouth is really weak, dissapointing considering the other virtues this beer has. Not for me.
SPM –
A very good example of old school Dunkelweiss. Creamy, usual clove and banana notes, some malt and my preferred slightly bitter aftertaste from a Dunkel over Hefe.

Tends much more towards the wheat than the malt, the dunkel effect is not overpowering. It’s excellent.
