Augustiner Lagerbier Hell is a refreshing long stored beer that’s mild, sparkling and relatively light. This classic Bavarian lager has fresh and fruity lemon notes giving it a pleasing citrusy flavour. Like most German beers, it’s best served cold and is brewed in accordance with the German purity laws, meaning it’s been made with just water, barley and hops. A long secondary fermentation makes for a lightly hoppy finish and an overall crisp, smooth flavour.
Helles or Hell beer is a type of German pale lager that is typically produced in the south of Germany. The word “hell” in German can be translated as bright, light or pale in English. These beers are usually full-bodied, and light in colour. They are slightly sweet with a low level of bitterness when compared to other beers. A filtering process that happens before bottling means that these beers are usually clear, although some establishments have been known to serve unfiltered versions.

A really nice easy drinking beer, Definitely one of my favourite German Helles, used to drink it a lot when in Germany and its great being able to find it and enjoy it now I’m back home.
Aidan –
Top beer, top price and top quality service. My order came in less than 24 hours, even notified me of a time it will arrive. I will definitely be using beers of Europe again!
Graeme Owen –
Great beer, one of my favourites. Order was delivered in no time. Great beer that always goes down well when I have friends round. Drank gallons of the stuff when in Munich!
Stujago –
This is an exceptionally light, crisp, clean sessionable lager. It pours a very light straw colour with a bready, yeasty aroma. A small head. Nice level of fizz. Goes down well if you are after a light beer.
Richard Martin –
A Munich classic. Crisp and easy drinking, as good from a bottle as out of a barrel. Has a lighter taste than you would think from its ABV. No bitterness at all in the aftertaste. Don’t let it get warm.
Luis Branco –
From one of my favourite breweries in Munich, this Helles Lager is light, clean, smooth and has a pleasant sweetness from the malt. It has a lighter mouthfeel than an average Pilsner. Ideal for a hot summer day.
Luke Hester –
Unbelievable beer. Nothing beats an ice cold Augustiner in the sun, light enough tasting but still a good ABV. Munich really knows how to plough out a good beer
Jeff –
A good quality lager bier from Munich, like all German beers it does not disappoint
Has a light taste for a strong beer.
Just need to be lucky and hope it’s in stock when I make my order
Rob Lewis –
Outstanding beer. My favourite version of Helles, overall. Be careful – this is very moreish and you wont notice the ABV whilst tasting! Very refreshing and has a very distinct after taste. This beer has a lot of “taste” for a lager. This is the one beer I usually recommend the most…
Dave Parry –
A beautiful beer, light but full flavoured arguably the best of the Munchen helles
Robert Harkin –
This is a great beer, very light and refreshing, definitely the best Helles bier on offer
Paul Santilli –
Our favourite Munich Helles beer. Slightly more malty than some of the others from the main breweries
Marcus Wellings –

Christopher Leno –
Probably the best lager in the world. Lovely flavour and refreshing. Everything you’d expect from a Helles.
DW –
I love this beer. The best Helles you can buy. Smooth, creamy, heaven in a glass. It doesn’t even give me a headache unlike the wife. I’d marry it.
Pukka P –
Photogenic, clean, crisp, refreshing. Sweet in body but drying in finish.
Alun Whitehead –
The best beer around yet to find a better one definitely a five star+ rating from me
Anna Chitty –
Love this beer. Only buy it as I can’t drink it in the mountains in Austria. Unique and lovely 😊
Paul C –
A delightfully clear crisp and smooth lager.Gentle citrus taste and perfect iice cold. Will certainly reorder.Could drink too many if not careful.
Matthew –
This is the lager that made me like lager! As a committed real ale drinker, my experience of lager was of tasteless fizzy pop. Augustiner Helles has a superb balance of richness and lightness, with a slight sweetness on first taste that isn’t cloying or lingering. Just wonderful.
Mike Faulkner –
Your staff, beer and service was outstanding the only downside was DHL they btoke
Jason Cook –
Love this beer, first introduced to it by my friend in Berlin who used to have crates delivered to his house! Always a treat, flavour is exceptional, not heavy to drink.
Best bit being that BoE are only 5 miles down the road from me.
Richard Allen –
Light and crisp. Not too much carbonation. Slightly bitter. Easy drinking. Very refreshing. One of my favourites.
Bazlad –
Goes down easily. Good stuff
david keel –
This has got to be one of the smoothest German beers I have ever tried. It has a well earned reputation as the oldest brewery in Munich (1328) so I think they may have almost got it perfect by now.
A really great beer supplied by a really great company Beers of Europe.
Thank you both.
Kul –
Light in colour, refreshing on the tongue, a gentle sweet taste. Clear white foamy head.
Loved the appearance and above all taste, one for those summer evenings.
Dean Griffiths –
My favourite from the Augustiner brewery. light crisp and exceptionally moorish.
Chris –
Light, very easy to drink and so smooth. Little hints of malts and hop throughout, crisp and sweet.
Tom Ray –
As moorish as german beer gets! I am from the UK and this just reminds me of skiing in the Austrian Alps … I seem to ski surprisingly better after 2-3 bottles of this beer. 100% worth a buy!
Neil C –
A quality German Lager and my favourite from the Augustiner brewery.
Mick Moore –
One of my all time favourites that I keep coming back to, although the Edelstoff is offering some competition now that I’ve tried it!
David Land –
Very little to choose between this an the Edelstoff, but Lagerbier Hell just edges it for me. As good as I have ever enjoyed – and I’ve enjoyed a few over the years! Try it, you will not be disappointed. Service is first class too.
Jamie Bond –
A lovely Helles lager that I thought looked hilarious when I first tried this at a German beer festival back when we were allowed to see other human beings! Do not be put off by the cover. It is now my second favourite beer which I frequently purchase from Beers Of Europe. Light and crisp and benefits from 10 mins in the freezer before enjoying it. Preferably from the bottle but it keeps its taste if poured in to a stein. Enjoy peeps.
Sean Mc –
Always the first beer I add to my basket when I do my monthly order. One of the first Munich ales I tasted many years ago and it’s fantastic I can now have a bottle every other weekend or so. This defines Munich helles for me. Golden, crips, light full of grainy hoppy flavours.
Peter –
a good refreshing beer

nice beer, clean flavour, but very mild… for me it wasn’t anything special
James Murray –
This for me this is the spirit of Munich. Such a smooth and lively helles lager. 5.2% so not to boozy, wonderfully lively and crisp. Could easily drink 4 or 5 of these one after the other. A true classic from Munich,

A fantastic light, malty sweet Helles with a crisp finish. One of the best examples of a Helles.

Got to be one of my all time favourites. If you like a smooth Helles, with a decent head that lasts throughout, then I’d thoroughly recommend this. Been drinking it a few years and never had a bad batch.
Jordan Long –
One of the finest from one of the finest. Best brewery in Munich, maybe Bavaria. This is the perfect Helles and the hoppy notes round out a fine drinking experience. 100 per cent have to try if you’ve not but VERY easy drinking…..

Outstanding beer, never fails to impress me. I will be ordering many more
Russell Castley-Adams –
Overall, a terrific Helles, can’t say I’ve had one better than this yet. Clean, crisp light and drinkable with very little hint of bitterness.
David Beckham –
Not much taste, actually tastes better when drank in Munich, which i have done. I knkw this is popular among locals in Munich.
Definitely better chilled.
GARY COWLAM –
Augusteiner Lager Bier is a very good German beer, I buy this so I can give it to friends, so I don’t have to give my favourite and better( in my opinion) Augusteiner Edelstoff.
