The creation of Diole Ambree at Brasserie des Carrieres could be described as a happy accident. The gas flame used to fire up the mashing kettle was burning just a bit too long or the settings were too high… Regardless, the beer came out with a different colour and taste and the resulting beer was well received and it was decided the beer would be marketed alongside their existing beer.
Diole Ambree is an excellent example of the expertise of the brewer, with the art of dosing perfected. Brewed with Pils and Caramel malt and three varieties of hops, it is an elegant and slightly sparkling beer with a solid frothy head. It has a fruity aroma with impressions of citrus, cinnamon and pepper with floral touches against a slightly roasted malt background. The aroma follows through to the flavours with surprising notes of caramel which are followed with a warming, lightly bitter finish.
Diole Ambree pairs excellently with goat’s cheese, stew and, of course, Belgian Diole cheese.

Warming dark gold ale. Pleasantly tangy and delicately fruity. Sweetish to start, dries out for a long finish. Hard to pour cleanly as the yeast is quite grainy and doesn’t want to settle, but not really an issue

It was very lively when I poured it, massive frothy head. It is a unique beer but I really like it, very complex.. in some ways more hoppy & bitter than I normally like my beer, but at the same time there is that fruity caramel sweetness that balances the bitterness, there are also refreshing citrus flavour in the mix

Lightly sparkling dark straw coloured beer with a fine solid volumous frothy head. A fruity aroma with floral hints, a rounded roasted malt back drop with a bitterness in the nose. This aroma follows into the flavours with a warming, lightly bitter finish.
Not really for me, the bitter finish stops .e from making this one for my list, but a fine beer.

Pours a hazy orange amber medium white head Smells of fudge herbs and ripe orchard fruit Tastes like mixed fruit jam dough some spice at end. Not the most attractive beer on the eye has a silky mouthfeel

An OK amber beer, not the best in its range but enjoyable as a drink . Lacks a bit of malt and deepness
