The Double Oaked is a more unusual twist on Woodfords Reserve Classic Straight Bourbon. It is first matured in white oak barrels, similarly to the Classic, however is transferred to heavily toasted casks to finish the bourbon in. This fusion, which leads to the name Double Oaked, brings spicy oak through onto the palate.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is deep amber in colour and has an aroma of fruit, caramel, honey, chocolate and marzipan in collaboration with the oak, which shows its sophistication in such a complex spirit. Vanilla and apple are at the forefront of the palate and it has a lingering finish with hints of apple and honey.
It has recently claimed Best in Show at the 2016 Whiskey of the World awards, the most recent in a long list of awards for the Woodford.
