Item Description

Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee: its label protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After is has been produced, it is refermented for four months in the bottle and continues to improve for 20 years.

Discovering the world of the Brettanomyces, the name given to the spontaneously fermenting wild yeast at the heat of the legendary lambics of the Senne Valley, is a fascinating experience. This little marvel of bitter flavour will win you over by its subtlety of taste in which lambic never means sourness. A wile and fresh aroma is combined with a completely emancipated taste from the very first sip, leaving a flavour of authenticity on the palate while maintaining all the mystery of the Brussels gueuzes.
