Love Among The Ruins is a sour red ale brought to you by Thornbridge Brewery.
This is a beer that is the iteration of a project that Thornbridge have been working on for a number of years.
They wanted to create a modern sour ale, aged in barrels, with the same complexity and depth of flavour that their favourite sours from the USA offered.
Love Among The Ruins is made with a Belgian yeast strain, giving a good foundation to start with before being aged in burgundy barrels with cherries for over a year. The addition of culture of Brettanomyces, Pediococcus and Lactobacillus at set points allows them to gradually sour the beer over many months with layers of flavour developing over time.
Rich fruit aromas and flavours compliment the sharp sourness which subsides for more malt and yeast flavours to come through.
Complex, crisp and thirst quenching, this is a beer to savour.
Love Among The Ruins won Gold in the World Beer Cup Awards for 2016.
