Item Description

From a distillery famed for its whisky produce, it may surprise you to learn there’s more to this Scottish Isle than first meets the eye. A most unusual gin from Bruichladdich is the focus, with The Botanist Islay Dry Gin exploding onto the scene with its incredible 31 botanicals, 22 of which come from the Isle of Islay itself.

The usual suspects of juniper, coriander and orris root, are all included, but this is also heavily packing mugwort, meadowsweet Meadowsweet and lady’s bedstraw flowers leading to an exciting floral aroma. Hand-picked by the foraging team on the Southern Hebridean Island, the spirit is distilled in a unique pot still christened ‘Ugly Betty’, at a very slow pace and at a low pressure, to create a smooth and floral edge to the gin. Notes of citrus, menthol and flowers provide the aroma and a mellow, growing warmth entices the palate. Spices on the finish top what is a remarkable piece of work from Bruichladdich.
