Despite being a relatively new brewery, set up in 1994, the Sharp’s brewery at Rock, Cornwall is well known across the country. The growth has been so rapid that they are already the South-Wests largest brewer of cask conditioned beer. This is mostly due to the massive popularity of its flagship brew, Doombar. But we will be quick to say that this is not the only successful beer to come from the brewery as we present Sharp’s Cornish Pilsner. Bringing modern brewing techniques to the traditional pilsner, a refreshing pils with an unbelievably clean taste is born. It uses Czech yeast in the beer and is then stored on a bed of Saaz hops to nod its head towards the inspirational Czech pilsners that inspired it.
It is a pale straw colour with a light herbal citrus aroma. The flavour is clean and crisp with essential fruit notes. followed by a refreshing, lingering citrus finish.
This is a must try if you are a fan of lagers, or specifically Czech pilsners, and its quality is evident in the amount of awards it has won since 2013 at the World Beers Awards and the International Beer Challenge.
